"joshua! no! stop it! stop it! stop it! i hate you! stop it!" tyler shrieks, shielding his face with his arms, as josh pushes the salty ocean water at him.

"i'm gonna get you!" josh laughs, wrapping his arms around tyler, pulling him underneath the water with him. tyler gasps as they break the surface, throwing himself back into josh's arms, kissing him hard. tyler rests his hands on josh's chest as josh grips his hips, tilting his head to the side to allow josh to deepen the kiss.

"i love you." tyler whispers into josh's mouth.

"i love you more." josh pulls away, pecking tyler's lips a few more times before leading him out of the water, back towards their spread out towels, crashing onto them and bringing tyler's body down with him.

"hey, so, we kind of had a spur of the moment decision last night— to go on a little trip toooooo—" tyler struggles to turn the camera around in his slightly cold hands, "santa monica!!!" he shows the pier and the beach.

"are you having fun, joshua??" he pans the camera over to josh, who is laying on his side and eating chunks of pineapple.

"i'm having so much fun, tyler." he smiles, mouth still full.

"you're gross. anyhoo—" tyler flips the camera back around, "i think today we are just going hang out on the beach and walk around the pier."

"i think today i'm gonna ha—" josh begins but tyler pushes his foot at his chest.

"josHUA!" tyler gasps, turning the camera off.

"what?" josh says slyly.

"you were going to say something bad!" tyler laughs, wondering where all this new found innocence has come from— something about being in love is making him feel slightly childish at times.

"so!? i was just going to say i was going to have my way with you..." josh moves towards tyler, playing with the hem of his swim shorts.

"joshieee..." tyler frowns, pushing at josh's hand, "we're in public! stoppppp!"

"or what? hmm?" josh tilts his head.

"or i will have my way with you, joshua.." tyler laughs, leaning down and pressing a quick kiss on josh's lips before getting up and walking back towards the water, a small sway in his hips.

"jesus christ, he's going to be the death of me." josh groans, getting up and following tyler back to the water.

they play around in the ocean for a few hours, and build a sand castle that ends up getting knocked down by a dog running by, and eat cheap (read: affordable. the quality is far from bleak) mexican food for lunch— a lunch so late in the day that it could be considered dinner. all the while, tyler has the camera in hand documenting every single giggle that leaves josh's lips. soon enough, the sun is setting and josh has tyler's hand wrapped in his while they stroll down the pier. the sounds of children yelling in excitement, and the roaring of roller coasters, and the chattering of adults fill the air.

"god, you're so stunning." josh murmurs, staring at tyler's features under the light of the ferris wheel.

"thank you, joshua." tyler blushes, looking at his feet, "you're handsome."

"i want to take you on the ferris wheel." josh points his finger upwards, causing tyler to turn towards the towering wheel.

"a-are you sure? it's a little h-high up..." tyler struggles out, chewing the inside of his cheek.

"well only if you want to, ty." josh strokes tyler's cheek with his thumb.

"i'll go... for you." tyler smiles, all lip, leaning into josh's touch.

they wait in line to board the ferris wheel, tyler's insides feel like jell-0 but he won't let that show.

he's scared but he won't let that show.

he's so in love and can't help but let that show.

he leans into josh's chest, breathing against his shirt, wrapping his arms around his waist. josh presses a kiss to the side of tyler's head, wrapping his arms around his shoulders. they climb into the carriage, tyler clinging to josh's arm for dear life and snapping his eyes shut as the wheel begins to move, bringing the two closer and closer to the top.

"you can open 'em now, love." josh laughs, squeezing tyler's knee. tyler slowly opens his eyes, one at a time, gasping in awe when the city below him appears in sight. tyler looks over at josh, who's staring at him in awe, camera in hand.

"it's beautiful! i love it! i'm scared, but i love it!" tyler giggles, peering closer to the edge.

"you're beautiful, i love you." josh swoons, setting the camera on the ledge, so it can record the scenery of the rest of the ride.

it's quiet for a moment, both boys taking in their own beautiful sights. josh's heart flutters in his chest, he's been dying to ask tyler something important all day. he fights with himself, and too soon, they're back on the ground and tyler is pulling him back towards the parked car.

"we should get home, joshie. m'really tired. are you tired? are you okay to drive? should we stay the night?"

"i'll be just fine, baby," he sighs, unlocking the car, "you get some rest."

tyler clambers into the passenger seat, immediately grabbing his pillow to prop it up against the window then leaning against it. josh buckles up and begins the journey home.

at 10:07 pm tyler wakes up.

at 10:43 pm they stop for taco bell.

at 11:19 pm they're back on the road.

at 11:31 pm tyler falls asleep again.

at 12:17 josh pulls into the driveway.

josh picks tyler up, carrying him inside as quietly as he can. he gently places him in his bed, undressing him and tucking him in before slipping out of his bedroom and into his parents' to let them know they're home and in one piece. josh locks the house up and heads back up to his room to slip into bed next to a very much asleep tyler, whose mouth is partly open, allowing the smallest of snores to escape. he leans over to turn off the lamp, leaving a kiss on tyler's forehead in the process.

"i'll ask you one day, i promise."
