~unfinished / probably won't be finished~

taehyung curled in on himself, music blasting from his speakers, a steady blink of blue light filling his dark room. he was listening to his mix on youtube, the sad songs he chose to download with the heavy bass.

eventually, he heard the slam of a door, perking up from his half asleep position against the wall. he froze when yelling noises got closer, much clearer now that they moved from outside to their apartment.

he bit his lips, straightening up. fear enveloped him, wrapping him in its hold. he was half expecting someone to burst into his room, seething. the couple next door was screaming, but he tried to block them out, body trembling. it was too late to leave, having nowhere else to go.

taehyung covered his ears, turning his music up louder. he didn't care if it woke any of his other neighbours, though he was sure the yelling and screaming next door was enough to wake the entire complex.

almost immediately, they stopped. taehyung strained to hear any other noise, even moving to turn his music down. he heard someone exclaim in surprise mixed with anger, making him tense. "what the fuck!? you can't fucking hit me!"

"i told you when we were younger that if you tried to hit me i'd hit you back!" taehyung covered his ears again when he heard the shattering of glass, the air in the room suddenly too thin. more curses from next door and a thud caused taehyung to let out a small sob, tears cascading down his cheeks.

a scream of his own spilled from his lips when someone angrily knocked on the door, aggressively banging on the worn wood. taehyung froze again, holding his breath. he shut his eyes tightly, praying that whoever was at the door was trying to find the couple next door instead of him.

the incessant banging on the door didn't stop. "taehyung!" he perked up, shakily jumping up and rushing to the door when he realized who was there. practically ripping the lock off the door, taehyung threw the door open, denting the wall in his hurry.

"hyung!" taehyung sobbed, pulling the shorter into a tight embrace. he hiccupped, body still shaking as he cried. "they're hit— hitting each other next door! i-i heard a loud thud and glass breaking and-!"

yoongi shushed him gently, leading the younger deeper into the apartment and shutting the door behind them, all the while holding the crying boy close. "it's okay baby, it's okay. we can go check on them, alright?"

taehyung nodded hurriedly, face buried in the shorter's shoulder. yoongi sighed softly, running his fingers through taehyung's hair. he sat them down, waiting for taehyung's shaky sobs to reduce to hitches in his breath.

when taehyung was calm enough, yoongi cleaned him up, wiping at the younger boy's face with a face cloth, unsticking the hair that was matted to his face as he went. seeing how afraid and upset taehyung was broke his heart. he hated the boy's parents for doing this to him.

sighing softly, yoongi stood up after cleaning him up, then they walked over to the door, taehyung's hands shaking the whole time. seeing this, yoongi held his hands tightly in his own. they walked over to the door, and yoongi knocked.

they waited. there wasn't a response. taehyung shifted from foot to foot, clearly getting more and more agitated as time went on. yoongi continued to knock, also getting agitated. he should've went here first, then checked up on taehyung. they were greeted with dead silence, when finally, the door cracked open and someone peeked out.

"what."

"we just wanted to check up on you. there was yelling and from what i was told, breaking glass."

the person's eyes softened when they saw how much of a mess taehyung was, despite yoongi's best efforts to clean him up.  they closed the door for a moment, and the sound of the lock opening was heard before the door opened again.

there was a bruise on their face, to which taehyung gasped, gripping yoongi's hand tighter. "let- let me-!" he let go of yoongi's hand, and moved to examine their face, but hesitated, worry on his face.

taehyung had to take care of his sister's bruises. and his mother's bruises. they were both in abusive relationships, and he was the one who cared for them when their boyfriends went out drinking, leaving behind bruised and broken messes.

he had reacted on instinct, but shied away, frowning at the ground. yoongi watched on silently as the boy who opened the door backed up instinctively, confusion and alarm in their eyes. he watched as the boy gave and let them in.

"sorry for the glass." the boy muttered, stepping by it. "i'll clean it after." taehyung and yoongi stepped by it as well, the suffocating stench of alcohol heavy in the air. there was another guy sitting on a couch, a bag of frozen peas pressed to his face. pea boy had more bruises, yoongi noted.

"why the fuck is an officer here?" pea boy growled, glaring at the couple. yoongi raised a brow, smirking slightly. the two knew each other well, having seen enough of each other often.

"just checking up on ya, hoseok."

taehyung fidgeted under the guy's gaze, hands shaking as he moved to hide behind yoongi. the first boy came back into the room to see his boyfriend and the short guy staring each other down, and the tallest of them cowering behind the short one.

"stop that!" the boy hissed, lightly swatting at hoseok with the broom. "they're just here because they were concerned. there's no reason to glare at them like that."

"don't you fucking touch me jimin, or i'll give back twice you gave to me."

"i fucking dare you, jung hoseok."

the couple redirected their stares to the tall boy when a small sob left his lips. it stunned them both to silence, confused looks on their faces as they watched yoongi try and comfort taehyung, shushing him gently and wiping tears away.

they glanced at each other and back to the sight before them, hoseok shrugging when jimin sighed.

"it's rude to yell in front of guests." yoongi scowled at them, holding the now small looking boy close to his chest. "fucking behave yourselves. you're grown. act like it, or at least leave the premises."

with his statement, yoongi guided taehyung to the door. he figured that the younger needed fresh air, or just a place away from the awfully noisy complex he was staying in. so instead of taking him back to his room, he took him to his car.

he took care of taehyung after that, gently prying the younger's fingers from his jacket and wiping his cheeks with a baby napkin. he buckled him in, shutting the car door and then holding his hand when he got into the driver's side.

he drove them to his house, then guided him inside after locking his car. yoongi set him on the couch, then went to go grab taehyung's emergency stash of goods in his house for whenever he went over.

he grabbed his comfort blanket from its special place, then curled up on the couch with him when they settled in under the blanket. yoongi put on taehyung's favourite movie, then began carding his fingers through his hair.

they stayed like that until they fell asleep, curled into each other, the tv playing in the background.

then they did that again the next day. and the day after. all the way up until taehyung was emotionally ready to go back to his apartment, and they kissed each other goodbye in the doorway of taehyung's apartment, a cheerful smile on the younger's face as he waved the older bye.

turning around to walk further into his apartment, taehyung paused when he saw a white teddy bear and a bouquet of white roses sitting on his dining table. he made a small noise of confusion and cautiously approached, picking up a fancy looking black and white card.
