Chapter Sixteen

Writer's note: This chapter is a back and forth of three POV's. It's a filler chapter.

Allie's POV
"You will need this one!" Oris tells me as he hands me a small box. I unwrap the box right in front of him. Huh, I had guessed well in my mind. A small gun. I am not so familiar with guns but despite my ignorance, I know this thing is damn expensive. "It's loaded." He adds, as an afterthought.

"And you will need Rene's bracelet!" Ted? I can't see him and I don't know where he's speaking from. "Please." He adds.

I look around me and I shake my head. His voice is so close and in reality he would be very close to speak to me like that.
"And Allie, do not underestimate your father." Ted, where is he speaking from. I am getting restless and Oris is just watching me. Can he hear Ted? "He knows this is a set up!" Shit! Ted please come out from where you are and stop tormenting the hell out of me.

"Allie!" Coy calls from the couch. He's always sitting calmly on the couch. "What is it?" He asks. Damn it, they can't hear the voice. I am crazy, or crazy is me!

"Don't say anything!" Ted's voice warns. I want to break down and weep on my knees. This is a crazy situation. We are planning an attack and then he comes with his tales. Father knows that we are attacking and he's ready to wreck havoc at the park.
"He actually won't be alone! And suppose he's even alone, all of you wouldn't handle the monster inside him." oh my, Ted please.

"And now listen to me carefully, you will do what I say." The commanding stubborn voice pauses. "Your sister is on the way. She will be there in the next few minutes. She is emotionally messed up- I did that intentionally. Inside her bag..."
"Shushhhh!" I whisper in my head when Rene appears at the door. She looks as if she is crumbling...she is actually not just emotionally messed up but her spirit is really trampled on...what was Ted trying to tell me? And why would he do this intentionally.

I am about to hug Rene when Oris pulls her into his arms. He soothes her by rubbing her back and when he kisses her left cheek,I know that he stole that trick from me. Truth is, I admit that Oris is changing a great deal. He is trying to get close and show his feelings...you would never have thought he has some soft part inside his heart. For years he has been a monster. When he let's go of Rene, I see a smile spread on her face. She never loses the gleam in her eyes.

It's time and I need to leave. Ted's words are still crippling my calmness. I actually am losing the courage... I wish I hadn't agreed to meet him. "Go now!" Ted's voice commands. "It's too late to back out darling. Be strong." These are the last words I hear from Ted. Yes, it's too late to back out. I sigh as I find the door.

Oris' POV
"It's a death wish, it's a death wish, it's a death wish..." My stupid mind is playing with me. We can't lose a battle. I will just be firing. Futhermore, we shall get him unaware. "It's a lie!" What the fuck, shut up. What's happening to me?
"Getting cold feet brother?" Coy asks.
Yes, I am afraid. "Oh no! I can't wait to shoot his brains out." I lie.

"We should start going!" I announce. Coy rises to the call and Elex appears from inside the house. For a moment I look inside his eyes and...
"Elex. What just happened?" I run to him. His eyes are bloody red and he is looking way past me- beyond my physical. Shit. What is happening? "Come." I open my arms wide for him. He's my kid brother and this is the worst I have seen of him. This isn't him.

Allie's POV
There is some rusty smell in the car. Father looks much younger than he actually is and his eyes are burning deep inside me. I think he's seeing right into my soul. He holds my hand in his and he controls the steering with one. "Play cool." Ted is back in my mind.

With my father's hand on mine, I feel comfortable and I can now confront stupid Ted.
"What should I do?" I ask, almost shouting. In my mind, of course.
"He loves you and he won't hurt you when you play cool now. He's enjoying the moment but it won't be for too long."
"Like seriously, Ted!" My mind smacks at him.
Don't be afraid. He's your father...the man that...oh sorry, he's  oh shit, look at your blouse, Allie!" Ted is actually right in my mind. The way his voice breaks spells fear- it is tugging at my heartstrings and oops, this thing is fucked up. Well, it's my family, we are the most complicated human beings on the face of the Earth. Blood.
