Hard at first ( Keith X Jayme )

Chapter Six

Keith's POV
Once we heard the castle's alarm and got the notification sent to our lions we all turned and fended off the small attack force. Once we got inside we saw no Galra were left inside and we started looking for Allura, Corran and Jayme. Pidge stayed with Shiro and I in the main deck to look for Jayme. Once we found her, injured unfortunately but other then that she was fine but exhausted. I could see it. Shiro demanded she sleep and after watching her fail to stand i carried her to her room, and laid her down. "Get some rest, i'll be back to check on you in a bit." I told her, before gently kissing her forehead. I saw her smile before she fell asleep. I smiled at her. "I'm glad you're okay" i said. Shiro came into the room "She's asleep right?" I nodded and stood up "Is there something you need?" I asked and he called me out into the hall. I stepped out of Jayme's room into the hallway. "Is something wrong Shiro?" The look on his face only confirmed that there was something worrying him. He walked away and i followed already knowing he was going to show me something. We ended up in the security deck. "Watch these with me and tell me what you think" he hit play. I watched as Jayme said goodnight to Allura and Corran then after a little while she started to fall asleep. He paused the recording, "Well it looks like she was getting tired and started to fall asleep" i stated earning a nod from him and he played it again. I watched as she bolted upright, looked around then started talking to us. Shiro didn't pause it this time "She heard something and thought it came from us, so she freaked out." Then after a few more minutes she had forgotten to turn off her mic so we heard the explosion. I watched as smoke filled the air, i saw her put on her helmet, active her bayard and start fighting but soon the left arm of her suit was broken and she was hit. She looked around then hid under the Control Panel. I watched her helmet roll out and the Galra just move on once they didn't see her anymore. "Shiro why did you want me to watch this?" I asked, obviously angry. "To see how you would react watching her get hurt, you're hands are in fists, you have tears in your eyes and your body language tells me your angry and worried." He moved towards me "Keith don't blame yourself, blame the Galra who attacked the castle and shot her. None of us were there at that moment." I slowly calmed myself down "okay....okay Shiro, i will. And i'll fight harder to keep her safe" i looked at him and he smiled approvingly. "Go get her and yourself something to eat" he ordered, i nodded and left. I found myself smiling at how easy i was to read, and how easy Shiro was able to tell me exactly how i felt.

Jayme's POV
I felt my sleep slipping away from me and i tried so desperately to hold onto it, but it didn't last. I slowly opened my eyes and sat up, rubbing the remaining sleep from my eyes. I jumped a little when i saw someone sitting on the edge of my bed. I mumbled and they turned to look at me. I smiled when i saw it was Keith looking at me. "Hey there, feeling better?" He asked and I nodded "A lot better actually" he smiled and handed me a plate of food "Hunk thought you'd be hungry when you woke up" i laughed a little and took the plate. "Have you eaten?" I asked as i started eating, i watched him nod. "I'm actually glad you're awake, we're going on another mission, and we need our sneaky sixth paladin to come along. If your feeling up to it that is" I nodded and quickly ate the rest of my food. Then getting up i shoved Keith out of my room, him laughing the entire time. I quickly got into my suit and got my bayard then opened the door again. "Lets go mullet" i smiled as i walked away. I feel him grab my hand and walk with me. I looked at him, face heating up. He just kept walking like was happening. I smiled and let him take me to the red lion. I took a seat behind him, and listened to him. "Okay i got her, leaving now." He turned off his mic and sighed. "So where we going?" I asked and he shook his head "I'm not telling you" i looked at him "please!" He chuckled "no, Jayme not going to work" i poked his arm causing him to look at me and i made puppy eyes "Jayme no......that's not fair"
I added a little whimper and he broke "Fine, we're going to infiltrate a small Galra fleet. I asked if you could come along if you were feeling up to it because well...you know" i nodded "okay, you could have just said so" he thought about it for a moment, before motioning for me to stand next to him. I got up and stood next to him. "What is it?" I asked. I didn't get a response though. He wrapped an arm around me, pulled me around his seat and sat me on his lap. I was now a blushing mess and i knew it. "K-Keith" he didn't say anything, he just rested his head on top of mine while i leaned against him. Just then we heard Pidge's voice "okay we are coming up to our target, every activate cloaking" keith reached around me and pushed a button and i watched as the other lions became invisible. "Woah" i said forgetting Pidge could hear "Yeah I know, super high tech cloaking and-" Shiro cut pidge off "Jayme, Keith is gonna drop you onto the nearest ship, and you'll need to make your way to the control room, you got that" "Yes Shiro, I understand" Keith and i turned off our helmets and i got up. I waited for him to land the lion before moving anymore. He stood up and held me. "Please be careful" he said and kissed my forehead "I will, i promise" i looked up at him finding his eyes on me already. I watched him start to lean in and i had to stand on my tip toes to close the gap, we shared a short but passionate kiss, both of us desperately not wanting to stop. He was the one to break the kiss. "You be careful too okay Keith" he nodded then opened the hanger for me. I slipped out, cut a hole big enough to get me through and i was in. "Okay, Let's do this"
