Something sweet (Sniff x Reader one shot)

You had been considered part of Moomins friends now. It had been a year or so since you moved to the valley and you had a particular friend you gravitated toward. This friend was none other than Sniff. He was a nervous character which is what you bonded over. Sharing common fears, you found yourselves being excluded form adventures together.

Everyone had planned to go sailing today and this is where one of your shared fears came in.
"I'm sorry, i wish i could go.. It's just, that's so much water and.. and what if i fall in yeah? i can't swim!"
Little My hopped onto the railing and shouted to you with her arms crossed.
"Oh dont be silly (Y/N)! You couldn't fall if you sit down!"
Sniff took a step back after noticing he had a single foot on the pier. He looked at you then to My before piping up.
"Y-yeah what i a storm rolls in and the boat is smashed??"
"Now that's just a baby excuse. There isn't a cloud in the sky, see?"
She gestured to the clear blue sky and hopped back down.
"Let's just go and leave them Moominpapa. It's a waste of time don't you see?"
With that they untied the boat and rowed away from its place while Moomin and Snufkin let the sail out to catch the summer breeze.

Some minutes or so after watching them sail so far they were just distant dots you turned to Sniff who was turned to return to his burrow.
"Where ya headed Sniff?"
You jogged up to his side and nudged his arm.
"Home i suppose. No reason to stand around here huh? Besides, i'm a little hungry."
You traced your shadows with your eyes and tried to think quick. The past year hadn't been long but he and yourself were fairly close now, always following one or the other to the sidelines from adventures that made you nervous. Sometimes one or the other would happen up just as the other hatched a scheme to earn a quick buck or two. You grew to have a little crush on him. Today you wished not to waste the time with him.
"Well i just so happen to have something for you!"
You linked your arm with his and made way for Moominhouse. Recently you found some wild peanuts and made peanut butter with them after cultivating a patch for them in Moominmamas garden.

Now in the house you placed him at the table and made way for the kitchen.
"I will be a few minutes, just wait here!"
He did as you asked and you went to work. A couple cups of sugar in a sauce pan then wait for it to melt. After its melted, add in a cup of peanut butter and mix it in good. When its all melted pour it into a buttered pan.
"That should do it.."
You said this to yourself then went to eat what was left in the pan. Little did you know, Sniff got curious and slipped into the kitchen.
"Eating without me huh?"
You lick the last bit left over and place the pan in the basin.
"No! well.. yes. I was just seeing if it was good enough for my good pal!"
You batted your eyes at him and he rolled his eyes while hopping up on the counter.
"Right, sure."
"Oh do you want a taste?"
You wander his way like a curious cat watching a grass blade dance in the breeze.
"Yeah i do! right now would be good."
You stopped just in front of him and tilted your head while an innocent smile spread across your face.
"Now huh? You sure?"
"Yes! I don't appreciate you going and snacking behind my back while you know well that i said i was-"
You cut him off with a quick kiss, as you had some on your lips still. This was quite a bit out of your comfort zone but something came over you. His muzzles fur kinda tickled your face and you could feel the heat from his now arising blush. When you pull away you both are blushing.
"W-what was that about?"
"I'm sorry. I d-don't know wha-what came over me i uh.."
A quiet few seconds pass, slowly as if each was ten minutes.
"'spose it's a good of time as any to say that,"
You look to the floor trying to muster up the courage from between the floor boards.
"I've liked you for a bit now and i.. i like you."
Sniff is at a loss of words and just looks from you to the floor a couple times before replying.
"Yea-w-.. I like you too. Just didn't think you felt the same."

After all that, the candies were sure to be cooled enough to eat. You take out a couple saucers and tea cups. He and you quietly go out to the veranda and begin on the cool tea and peanut butter fudge.
"So Sniff?"
"Yes (Y/N)?"
"Lets go out and be a couple yeah?"
He nearly choked on the last bite before replying quickly.
"Yeah, i'd like that."
