Ruby pov
Hey I'm Ruby. I'm 7 years old and I've been 2 years in this orphanage. I'm here because my step dad treated me horrible. I'm definitely not comfortable telling someone so I'm not going into detail.

"Kids between 6 and 9 come downstairs please" the orphanage owner shouts. I put on leggings and a striped longs sleeve shirt as I went downstairs to the other kids. We stand in two rows as 5 boys come in.

They look cool but they probably don't want me because who wants an abused and scared girl. The boys talk to most of the kids and I just stand there waiting to go to my room again.

Suddenly a tall blue eyed boy comes to me and kneels down to my height. "Hey what's your name? I'm Daniel" he says with a smile. "My name is Ruby Fernandez I say quiet" "Oh that's a cute name! U are a really pretty little girl do you know that?" Daniel says smiling down at me. He seems really nice. "Oh t-thanks I've never been told that I'm pretty" I say shy. He looks a bit sad and says bye when he has to go back to the others.

I go upstairs to my room again where I change into joggers a shirt an fuzzy socks. After a while the orphanage owner comes in „Congratulations you're being adopted" Just as he says it the boys come in again. My face lights up immediately. I can have a real Family.

I pack a bag while talking to the boys. They seem really nice. „I'm ready" I yell excited. I say bye to everyone and leave the orphanage.

There isn't enough space in the car so I have to sit in Daniel's lap. He takes fuzzy socks from my bag and puts them on me. "We have to drive an hour so u have to get comfy" he laughs.

After a while I get tired. Daniel notices and pulls me closer to his chest. I quickly fall asleep in his warm arms.

„Wake up buttercup we're here" Jonah says picking me up. He walks with me to a giant house. „Are u rich or something" I say shook. „No but we're in a band" he giggles.

It's even better inside. Jonah carries me into my room which is also gorgeous. „Omg omg omg thank you so much I don't deserve this" I say happy. „You deserve the world Ruby" he says and kisses my cheek.

Jonah leaves and I start unpacking. After I'm done I'm going downstairs to have a glass of water. I try to reach a glass on the shelf but it falls down and shatteres into a hundred pieces.

I'm getting really scared when I think about what my dad would've done to me now. Beat me? Kick me? Probably both.

I back away as Daniel comes in the kitchen. "I'm so sorry please don't hurt me PLEASE" I scream while tears streaming down my face.

I'm really scared as Daniel runs up to me but instead of punching me he picks me up and hugs me tight. "Everything's fine I would never hurt you okay? Never." He says reassuring me while I bury my head into his shoulder. "I'm so sorry" I cry.

He pulls back but still has his arms around me. He rubs away my tears with his thumb just to pull me into another tight hug. He rubs my back which calms me down.

After a while of hugging and talking I go into the living room to watch frozen. But as it's already 10 pm I fall asleep.

Daniel pov

I smile to myself as I see Ruby asleep on the couch. She's so cute I love her so much. But her reaction when she accidentally dropped the glass scares me. She's probably been through a lot even though this little girl doesn't deserve anything but love.

I pick her up from the couch and carry her in her bedroom. I think about changing her. I guess I'm gonna do it since I'm her dad now and she's only a little girl. I take of her shirt and joggers and stand there shook.
