You sat alone in the crowded bar, stirring your almost empty drink. You had a rough day, nothing caused it. It was just one of those days.
You weren't completely drunk, just enough to take the edge off. You turned around when you heard a bunch of mens voices flood the building. They looked around your age, not all of them your type, but cute. Maybe you were just seeing things.
But, you weren't. There was one specific one that caught your eye: blonde hair, blue eyes, and fit. He was so cute, and you two made eye contact. Soon enough, he was coming your way. Holy shit he was coming your way.
You turned around and quickly fluffed up your hair and touched up your makeup using your compact mirror. When you turned around, he was right behind you. "Looks like your drink is empty. Can I buy you a new one?" The mysterious, gorgeous man asked you.
"Yeah, sure. Please, sit," you said with a smile, tapping the chair next to you as a signal for him to sit. He smiled back and sat, asking the bartender for two more of whatever you were having. One for you, one for him.
"Oh, I'm so sorry, I'm William," he said, sticking his hand out from his pockets for you to shake.
"Y/N. Nice to meet you, William," you said with a smirk, shaking his hand.
The bartender arrived with your drinks and William slipped him a smile and a five dollar bill before turning back to you to talk again. "So, Y/N, what's a pretty girl like you doing all alone?"
You couldn't help but smile at the boy. You hadn't talked for long, but he made you smile a lot already. "Rough day, no boyfriend. You?"
He smiled and point behind him. "No girlfriend, here with some friends. We just won our game."
"Game? What sport do you play?" You asked, fully interested in what he had to say.
He put his hand over his heart playfully. "Wow, Y/N, I'm offended you don't know who I am. I play hockey. Toronto Maple Leafs."
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry," you quickly apologized. "I've been to a couple of games. I may have even seen you play. I'm sorry, I don't remember."
He just smiled. "Don't be sorry. I should be apologizing for not seeing you," he laughed.
You laughed as well. "Well, I'm here now."
The DJ starting playing your favorite song, Y/F/S, and William noticed that you liked it. He stood up and reached out his hand. "Wanna dance?" He asked, his blue eyes shimmering in the flashing lights of the club. "I'd love to."
You put your hand in his and he led you out onto the dance floor. You could see his friends mouthing words like 'yes' and 'get it' to him, which made him giggle softly, which was the cutest sound ever.
Once you were out on the floor, you and William started dancing. You cooled down a bit, just bobbing along to the following songs afterwards. One more song came on: a slow one.
You and William looked at each other as he placed his hands on your waist, giving you butterflies. You wrapped your arms around his neck as he smiled down at you, and you smiled up at him. You swayed side to side to the music, synchronized with William. As the music got slower and you two got more comfortable, you laid you head on his chest. He gripped your waist tighter and pulled you closer to him. The song stopped and you two pulled away from each other. "You know, we really should exchange numbers," William said as you two made your way back to your seats at the bar.
"Nice idea, blondie." You handed him your phone as he gave you his and you typed in your phone number, along with your contact name: 'Y/N, my future girlfriend.'
You handed each others phones back and he smiled at your contact name, you doing the same with his: 'William, my future boyfriend<3.'
"Great minds think alike," you said, taking another sip of your drink.
"Maybe it's just meant to be," William said, smiling.
"Maybe it is, Nylander."
"Oh, so you know my last name?"
"Didn't I tell you I went to a couple games?" You said, with a smirk.
"I guess so," he shrugged playfully.
You two chatted about your lifes: what you two did, your hobbies, your favorite things, what you do for fun, exes, and funny stories. Tonight was one of the best nights you've ever had.
One of William's friends came over and introduced himself. His name was Auston. "Willy, we got to go," he said to William. "Early morning practice," Auston said, flashing you a smile.
"Got it. I'll be over in a second," William said to Auston, shooing him away.
"So, it was awesome meeting you, Y/N, my future girlfriend. I'll make sure to call you. Let's go on a date, yeah?"
You smiled back at him. "You better call me, William, my future boyfriend. I'd love to, tell me when."
He reached out his arms for a hug, which you quickly took part in. It was relaxing, loving almost. His strong arms wrapped around your torso tightly, giving you butterflies.
You let go of the hug, still in his arms. You two locked eyes for a minute, his blue ones gazing into your soul. He was so mesmerizing. You couldn't help yourself, so you went for it. You lunged your lips towards his, colliding your lips together. He was shocked for a second, but eased in. It lasted a minute, before you pulled away.
"Your friends are waiting," you mumbled.
"I'll call you, Y/N. Thanks for such a great night," he said, smoothing his hair back with his hand.
"I'll be waiting, William. Thank you," you said, smiling at him and letting go of him. "For being the best dance partner ever," you laughed.
He chuckled and walked out of the club onto the cold streets of Toronto. He turned around and waved at you before getting in an Uber. Once he drove off, you got a text.
