It was pouring rain as you stomped up to your front door of the house you and Mathew shared. He tried calling you multiple times but you just put your phone on silent and stuffed it away.
He called you one more time and you finally picked up. "What now?" You asked through tears.
"Y/N, please, give me one more chance. I'm sorry for not showing up to our dates. I'm sorry for everything I've done."
But you couldn't. Mat also had been acting weird lately: distant. "Mathew, I should be saying sorry. I can't do this anymore," you said, hanging up the phone and throwing it in your purse.
You ran upstairs to Mat and yours shared bedroom to grab your things. As you took out a duffel bag from the closet and started stuffing things in, a body appeared in the doorway. "Y/N, please, stay. I won't leave you. I will give you my undivided attention. Please, anything. Just stay," Mathew pleaded.
You turned around with bloodshot eyes and your makeup smudged from wiping tears. "Mat, I would. But I can't. This is going to keep happening. We're just not right for each other," you said, with tears forming in your eyes again.
"Y/N, we have been together for 3 whole years. I would never give this up. It may not work out all the time, but I love you. And only you, forever. I can't just throw this away. We are right, or else we would never have done all of the things we did," he choked out, now starting to cry too. You had never seen Mat like that, and you wanted to hug him so badly. But you couldn't.
"I know, trust me, Mat, I do. But I just can't do this anymore," you said back to him as you were zipping up your bag. "I have to go. I'm going back home."
"This is home, Y/N. Please, please stay. I won't fuck up again."
You sighed. "I'm going back to Coquitlam. I'll see you around, Mat," you said, pushing by him.
"Wait, just one second," he whispered, grabbing your arm and pulling you back. He placed his lips on yours softly and running his hands through your hair. You did the same thing as he kept deepening your kiss.
Finally, you pulled away. "Ugh. I hate you, seriously," you laughed out at him. "Just this once. But Mathew Barzal, I swear to God. If you fuck this up one more time, I'm gone for good," you said, smiling up at him.
He grabbed your waist and pulled you in closer. "No need to worry about that. I will never. I love you," he said, smiling back down at you.
"I love you too."
