I walked in and it was pitch black. Great. Maybe my parents were sleeping? I turned around and shut the door behind me carefully.

"WAZZUP BABY SIS!"

A light turned on and I turned around with my eyes wide open.

"James?!"

My big brother was back.

——————————————————

"Soph I missed you!" My brother, James said as he came up and hugged me. It took me a while to hug him back because I was so shocked he was home.

Here's the thing about my brother. We didn't have the sibling relationship normal siblings had. My brother was protective of me because I was his little sister and we got along great. We were the siblings that shared food and other things with each other, and we rarely fought. He was one of the few kids that went on the independent study travel, and not gonna lie...him being away from me was horrible. I didn't have an older role model to give me advice besides my parents and I always felt like the dumb child because he got picked and I didn't.

"James I...I missed you too." I said, as I finally squeezed back a hug and shut my eyes, smiling.

"I have so much to tell you, but I wanna hear about you first Soph. How is everything...and everyone?" He asked as he pulled me over to the couch so we could sit down.

"Everyone's great! I got out of my relationship with Bentley a while ago, but I managed to cope without him cause he cheated on me. I also went to jail...and I dated Harvey and Joey multiple times back and forth. Basically I messed up while you were gone." I said shaking my head.

"Bentley wasn't right for you anyways Soph. I told you that from the beginning, and Joey was a cool kid. I liked hanging with him before I left, but Harvey Soph? As in Harvey Barton? You know how I feel about him."

The thing about Harvey and James was that they weren't on the best of terms. I don't really know what happened, but back then when we were kids they were best friends. I used to go over to their house more than I do now, and usually Harvey and James hung out while I hung out with Danny, Harvey's younger brother. I remember one day we were playing at recess and I fell and scraped my knee. Danny brought me a bandaid and placed it right where I got the scratch. I knew right after that we would be best friends, but once Harvey and James fought everything changed. We never hung out as much and they never said a word to each other whenever the group would hang out. It was awkward and James leaving made everything stress free. I wonder what it's gonna be like now that he's back....

"I know James, but it's over now. He's not coming back, ever. Besides I think I lost feelings for him anyways." I said shrugging as I twiddled with my thumbs.

"You're lying because you're twiddling your thumbs. You're really not over him, are you?" James asked as he looked at me with sadness in his eyes.

I shook my head and sighed. "No, of course not. I'll always love Harvey Barton. It's my fault we broke up most of the time, and when I thought I was gonna get a chance he and Sky got back together. Sometimes I wish I didn't screw up. I just want my blonde floof back." I said as I threw my face into my hands.
