This happened for months, Maddie giving everyone gold stars for big and small acts of kindness towards her or the others. Everyone collected them and some even got competitive with it.
During Christmas of 2019, everyone except Maddie got together to plan out her gift. Everyone loved the gold stars she has given them over the months so they decided to do something related to that. They settled on a gift basket containing a giant star-shaped cookie made by Cait and Angela, a new hoodie with gold designs and a couple of new books(The Little Prince, Alex & Eliza, Love & War, The Fault in Our Stars and These Broken Stars, to name a few).
During midnight at Christmas Eve, Alexa got the gift basket, which everyone hid in her room, snuck out of her room and placed it under the Christmas tree. She crept back quietly to her room making sure not to wake anyone up, especially Maddie and Astéri.
The next morning, Maddie was the first to wake up at the ungodly early hour of six o'clock in the morning. She checked under the Christmas tree to find any present for her. She was kind of sad that there was only one for her but oh well, it was better than none. She was surprised that it was quite heavy but she managed to drag it out anyway. She ripped open the wrapper and gasped.
It was a gift basket and inside was a giant star- shaped cookie, a new hoodie and more books! Upon closer inspection, she found a card decorated with many gold stickers. She realized everyone in the house contributed to the gift, explaining why she only had one gift. She opened the card and found a letter inside, which read:
Dear Maddie,
You have been the bestest best friend we could all ask for. We are really happy that you decided to be our friend even if some of us don't show it (Ahem ahem...Cady and Maegan.), but even if that is the case, we all love you. We have all noticed that you have given us plenty of gold stars the past few months but you have none. So in return, we got all this for you. Don't forget to give yourself gold stars when you think you deserve them as well. No amount of stars can compare how bright and happy you made all of us.Sincerely, your friends 💜⭐️💜
As she finished the letter, she couldn't help but smile. She wondered how she got lucky with such good friends.
