Lance PoV:
I've spent all my life in the hospital. Why? You ask. I have Gastroparesis (paralyzed stomach) and my condition is too severe for me to leave to hospital. Up until this point in time I've lived my normal life: meds, girls, and tubes. But, alas, the life of Lance McClain is never dull. At least that's what I always tell myself. One day, on March 12th 2019, those words finally came true.Pidge PoV:
I'm surrounded by metal and seat cushions. Oh yeah, and blood. So much blood...
I look down.
Holy shit that was a mistake. I have to look up again to avoid throwing up.
I look down again, swallowing the bile (painfully), and I see a long metal shaft going directly into my stomach area. My acid reflexes get the better of me and I try to vomit, but it's agony to do so. It hurts so much...
"Wait! There's a girl still in there!"
"Holy shit! Are you serious? Is she alive?"
"Not kidding!" I feel cold fingers press on my neck, "She's alive! Her pulse is weak though."
"Well, get her out!"
I feel strong arms wrap around me and lift up. It hurts. It hurts so bad.
"Sorry" I hear the first guy murmur.
"Kieth, shes stuck! I can't get her out safely!"
"Shit! I'm calling 911" I hear Kieth yell, just barely though.
The first guy is telling me to stay with them. I try to vomit again and I can feel him lean away. Instead of vomit coming out of my mouth, blood does. And a loud scream. The guy holding me winces like it hurt him. If you think THAT hurt what do you think I'M feeling? Asshole. I start laughing hysterically.
"Shiro! Ambulance is on its way. ETA is 5 minutes!" Kieth yells, "It's that too long?"
"Almost, she's going into shock." Says Shiro.
Then the world fades to black. Like a movie. Hehe.
-5 minutes later-
Shiro's PoV:
"Was she conscious when you found her?"
"Yes, her pulse was weak but she was awake," I reply to the detective guy.
"Did you try to get her out of the car?"
"Yes, but she was stuck inside."
"Did she show any signs of internal bleeding and or difficulty to vomit, cough, swallow, or breathe?"
"She tried to vomit about five minutes before you guys arrived, I could tell it was agonizing for her, instead of vomiting she just coughed up a shit ton of blood, then she passed out."
"One last question."
"Of course."
"Do you know her or does your friend know her?"
Did I know her? Her face was covered in so much blood so it would have been hard to identify her.
"I don't know. Is she going to be okay?"
"Honesty? I don't know. She was in pretty bad shape when you found her, they're trying to get her out now, you and your friend are welcome to come with her in the ambulance though," the detective guy looked genuinely concerned as he looked over at the crash.
"Thank you, I'll talk to him." I walk over to Kieth, where he is watching the paramedics lift the girl and rush her to the ambulance, "I'm going with her, to make sure she's alright, you wanna come with me?"
"Nah, I can drive the car to the hospital and meet you there."
"Okay." And I jog over to the ambulance and hop in only to find the girl covered in wires and straps holding her down. She still had the piece of metal sticking out of her stomach.
"If we take out the metal she'll bleed our even more" says a paramedic checking her blood pressure. I nod.-At the hospital-
Lance's PoV:
"Ambulance arriving in 10 minutes. Code Orange. Med bay please be ready for patient." I looked up from Hunk, who was accessing my port, to the intercom outside my room, back to Hunk.
"Can I go watch?" I asked.
"Yeah sure, just let me hook you up to your meds. Are you hooked up to your feed?" Hunk sighs and reaches for my IV pole and fluids.
"Yup! I did it this morning, about 7:30."
As soon as Hunk clicks my line in place I rush out of the room down to the emergency bay, where they are sprinting in with a girl, about 18 or 19, covered in blood and, the sight nearly made me gag, a large metal rod sticking out of her stomach. Behind them was a man, maybe late 20s early 30s. Her dad? Uncle? Brother? They rushed the girl immediately into the OR.
Shiro's PoV:
They just rushed her into the operating room. Kieth said he just pulled into the hospital parking lot.
"Hey. Did you know what happened to her?"
I look up to find a boy, maybe 19, with dark Cuban skin, connected to IVs.
"Oh, um, she got into a really bad crash. Me and my brother found her."
"Damn." I say, "That's scary."
He nods absently, "She's in surgery to get that rod removed and to look at the damage."
"Shiro! Where is she?" A younger guy runs in the waiting room, maybe my age, with and 80s mullet.
"Kieth! Calm down! She's in surgery. They said she'll be out in about 30 minutes." Said Shiro putting his hands on Kieth's shoulders.
Then a police officer walked in, "Hey, uh, we found her phone and ID in the car. Says her name is Katie Holt?"
Shiro's eye's widened, "No."
Kieth fell to his knees, "Not Pidge. It can't be."
"Who is Pidge? Do you guys know her?" I said.
"Katie Holt AKA Pidge Gunderson is an extremely close family friend." Said Kieth.
"Thank you. I, uh, I'll take her stuff," I said and took Katie's (Pidge's?) phone and ID from the police officer, Shiro and Kieth were in too much shock to do anything.
-30 minutes later, ICU/Recovery Room-
Pidge's PoV:
I woke up feeling...strange... to say the least. And confused. So confused. Why am I in a hospital? "What the fucking shit happened?"
"Language Katie" Oh. I said that out loud.
"Shiro? What are you doing here? What am I doing here?" I ask trying to sit up in the bed, realizing it was a bad idea, and laying back down. Just now noticing all the wires. Then, it all came back to me.
The crazy driver.
The crash.
The two men helping me...
"Shiro?"
He nods as if that's all he needs to do to get his point across. I collapse against the pillows. In shock. I glance at the clock above Shiro's head. March 14th, I had been unconscious in the hospital for two days. What. The. Fuck. Happened.
I barely even notice the doctor walk in. Surprised to see me awake. Then he sits down to talk about "Your stomach. Due to the extreme damage, your stomach had to be removed. We installed a feeding tube and an NJ tube and synthetic tubing to act as an elongated esophagus. Because we don't know the extent of this we are going to have to keep you here for a while. We don't know how long."
...I'll try to publish as often as possible and of course: THESE BEAUTIFUL CHARACTERS DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT BELONG TO ME
