Chapter 4: Trap (X2C Matic 3)

"Madi?" I hear someone call my name.

He bends down to pick up what looks like a grenade, weighs them in his hand like he's considering throwing them at me. "Where are you going?" he typed.

"To find people," I say.

He tugs on my ponytail. "Good idea. Want me to come with you?"

"You can if you want." I typed.

"Madi" he says, blocking my path. "It's a yes or no question."

I roll my eyes "Yes."

"So have you ever-" his eyes suddenly fixed on somethin in front of me.

I turn to see the most adorable child in the universe.

She's crying and she's asking for help and she's stuttering and hiccuping and I want to tell her that everything is going to be okay. Surprisingly, I think she has hit my soft spot. She has stunningly beautiful emerald eyes.

I walk towards her but Mas grabs my hand and says "Watch out. It could be a trap."

I look at him. "It's a child."

Soon enough, he nods. I wrap the child in my arms and ask her where her parents are.

She gets unexpectedly quiet and I pull back to look at her but just then, I feel the sharpest pain in my neck and I see blood.

I'm unaware of what's happening. She's on top of me then I go blind a little. Mas tries to throw her off me but she doesn't budge.

I see fangs that must have attacked at my neck. I hear a loud, ear aching gunshot and she's down. She's been shot in the forehead. Thanks to Mas.

I'm breathing like I'm climbed up the world's tallest mountain. He helps my to my feet.

"Sorry," is the only thing I can say at the moment.

He says "You've nearly died twice. You're lucky I'm here."

I nod then unintentionally roll my eyes.

"I wasn't informed that child vampires exist in this game," I find myself typing.

"Yup, now keep your eyes open and listen to me this time."

"I think I see something," I say as I see the black disfigurement ahead of us.
