Third Person Point of View
"What is it Fury, a new mission?" Steve speaks for the team, or at least him, Natasha, Clint, Tony, Wanda, and Bucky. All curious as to why they were called here.
"I have intel on a major, and running, hydra base. I need you guys to go there and take it down. Also, seeing as it's the main base, it's highly likely that our little Assassin friend will be there. Which means I want, presumably her, under my control. Understood?" Fury states glancing to the Avengers.
"Yes, but if I may ask sir, how do you know this is true and not some set up." Steve questions, but hoping not to push farther than intended.
"That is for my knowledge and my knowledge only Rogers." Fury gives Steve a look that says don't push it, and the super soldier complies.
"This all makes sense except for one part, Nick. That is this little Assassin took us out by herself, but yet we're going back to get her while fighting off hydra agents. So how do you expect us to complete this?" Stark interjects while popping a blueberry into his big mouth.
"You've already fought her, so you'll be prepared this time." Fury states without hesitation. "Now I'd get ready, the quintet is leaving in-" He peers down at his watch. "-one hour and seventeen minutes. I want her back here and that hydra base taken care of in five." Before any more questions could arise Fury leaves the room to go who knows where.
"Well team, you heard the man, Avengers Assemble." Steve announces puffing our his chest and running out of the room. Followed closely behind by his other teammates.Time Skip//
A man of high status storms into a laboratory occupied by a scientist typing into a machine hooked up to a girl strapped down with wires attached to her forehead.
"Shut this down! We're under attack!" The boss bellows.
"Boss, Her brain has only been wiped 17%. This would ruin the process. She'd be able to remember what happened after a span of two days, or maybe even one. We can't unhook her now." The scientist explains hoping he won't get on his bosses bad side, he knows you'd never get off of it.
"Do you think I CARE! We're under attack and she's the only thing that will keep the dirty Avengers from wiping this place entirely!"
"With all do respect, what about the other assasins?"
"They've already been sent to the new base. We started this process not too long ago because I knew we'd been on the radar for far to long, and look where we are! So I need her to become Night Rider!" He yells growing closer to the trembling scientist by the second.
"Okay, I'll stop he process right now." The scientist squeaks going over the main computer. He's questioning why he doesn't keep Assassins with him as much as possible, but he doesn't question it and carries on. He eventually presses a button stopping the whirling sound coming from the machine next to Lainey. He then scurries over to her and takes off the wires. Simultaneously, the impatient boss takes off the restraints.
"Laburnum." The boss days after fully undoing the girls restraints.
Night Rider jerks up at her masters command.
"What do you need master." She says in a monotone voice. Her eyes are now emotionless showing no trace of the past girl.
"We're under attack. Terminate all possible threats. GO!" He orders as the Assassin does as she's told.
Night Rider bolts out of the room and through the halls filled with shrill sirens until she comes open her own room. Kicking open the door she finds her suit hanging up. Quickly, she slips it on. Her suit is metallic black with lines of silver and dark blue going down the sides in intricate lines. It fits in all the right places making her body appear to be way older than a 14 year old. Her mask is the same color, but has silver outlining the eyes, making her rich chocolate brown eyes pop. There's a spot for her thick brown hair to come out in a pony tail from her fully encased mask. Lastly she has a rich, dark blue patch on her left shoulder that portrays a star and under it inscribed in silver is her name, Night Rider.
Content with her suit, she runs over the weapons wall while slipping a belt over her head and onto her hips. She finds multiple knives and daggers to hoist into the belt.
She then finds two pistols, flips the safety off, and runs out of the room searching for her enemies.
The Avengers already swept through the first three floors full of Hydra agents, and then still haven't came across the Assassin yet.
If Fury was right they'd only have two more floors to go through and they'd encounter Night Rider.
As they made their way do the second to last floor almost everyone was doubting the last part of Fury's theory. Of course until a door flew across the room and a girl in a black cat suit came sprinting out of know where with two daggers in her hand.
"She's here." Steve says into the comm.
"I'm surprised you even realized Rogers." Tony retorted.
"Well at least I'm not blinded by arrogance." Steve fires back while deflecting bullets on his shield.
"At least I have -"
"Shut Up you two. Can you actually be helpful for once." Natasha interjects putting an end to their foolish games.
Natasha and Night Rider begin their deadly dance in the middle of the room as the rest take out the other agents. Night Rider is able to land a blow to Natasha stomach sending her flying backwards, but that only ends up with an arrow to the leg. She quickly pulls it out unaffected and throws it back at the archer only missing him by a few inches.
"Did ANYONE see that!" Barton's exclaims.
"Yes. We. Did." The avengers all growl in unison.
"sorry I'll stop." Clint murmurs under his breath going back to doing what he does best.
As the number of hydra agents thin more avengers attack Night Rider. She's struggling against all of them, but still holds her own weaving between them and slashing at them with knives. On top of the countless punches she's acquired.
"Guys, everyone focus on Night Rider. All agents are gone on this floor." Steve orders.
The avengers didn't have to verbally answer because it showed that they agreed.
Natasha runs up to the girl doing moves trying to lay a blow on her. Steve throws the shield at the girl after she just threw Natasha off her shoulders. It hits her in the shins and she goes flying backwards. Right when she lands she pulls out a pistol from her belt and fires it at Steve, who wasn't ready to react and receives a pain in the shoulder from where the bullet just grazed his skin.
In response Bucky goes sprinting head first at the girl as they begin a spar with knives. Although, it quickly dies down as Tony aims his repulsers at the girl and fires.
Night Rider is hit in the stomach by a blast of energy from Iron Mans hand. Before she could stand back up Captain America hits her with his shield throwing her aback again. Too soon a flowing red mist forces her on the ground again and she struggles to stand up against it.
"CLINT! Tranquilize her already!" Wanda yells at the archer who quickly completes the task at hand.
Clint grabs the arrow that was just embedded with the tranquilizer and smacks it onto the arrow rest before letting go with impeccable accuracy.
The arrow pierces the girl in the neck right before she jumps out of Wanda's force and sprints over to her. On cue Natasha jumps on Night Riders shoulders while swinging around and bringing her to the ground. Once more, an arrow pierces her skin in her calf to finish off the job.
Night Rider is tense in Natasha's hold, but she struggles to find herself becoming droopy and relaxing. Trying to fight off the darkness she finds that it only comes quicker. Soon her eyelids close and her body slumps onto the ground while she's engulfed into an uneasy sleep.
"Well that wasn't so bad." Natasha says with a smirk moving out from under the restless body.
"Yeah, not too bad." Steve replies mimicking her. Wanda, Bucky, Tony, and Clint make their way over to Natasha and Steve.
"How come we couldn't do that last time." Tony scoffs.
"Because last time she took down our eyes in the sky." Bucky smirks looking at Clint.
"Hey, I don't think anyone expected her to do that." Clint points out.
"Guys, we still need to clear another floor. It won't take long, but I want her clear of this place. Nat, Clint, you take her to the quinjet to find Bruce. Tony, Wanda, Bucky, and I will take care of the last floor and then give a heads up to shield that they can sweep this place up." Steve says making his way to the steps.
"See ya around cap." Clint smirks while helping Nat carry the unconscious Assassin out to the quinjet.
"Ugh. Why do they get to leave. I worked harder than them." Tony whines receiving eye rolls from the teammates in front of him.
Nat and Clint walk up to the quinjet chatting amongst themselves when the door opens revealing Bruce.
"Where's everyone else?" Bruce asks while shutting the door behind them.
"Finishing off the last floor. Steve wanted us to bring her here." Nat gestures to the unconscious Assassin that Clint is dragging up next to the bench.
"Oh." Bruce says idling over to the girl. Nat does the same.
"Should I unmask this girl Scooby Style?" Clint grins praising himself at his joke.
"Knock yourself out." Nat jokes, but still curious to see the girl who managed to out do her last time. Bruce the same.
Clint slides off the mask revealing a pale, beaten, but clearly young face. All three stare for a moment in awe at the young girl in-front of them.
"She can't be more than 15, 16 years old." Bruce exclaims out of shock.
"How could Hydra do this to such a young girl." Nat whispers.
"Sheesh! This is nuts. A 10 year old whooped my ass!" Clint says amused.
"Clint. One, if Steve was here you'd be getting spanked. Two, she's clearly more than 10." Nat scolds.
"Here, will you guys place her on this table for me. I need to start running some tests. Might as well start now and then she can be restrained for precaution." Bruce states walking over to his stuff.
Nat and Clint lift the girl up onto the table and restrain her. As much as they hate doing it to a girl so young, they have no choice.
Bruce was beginning his work and the two Assassins sat together chatting until the door opened revealing the last of the Avengers.
"Took you guys long enough. Guess you just couldn't do it without us." Clint jokes light heartedly.
"Well, maybe you guys shouldn't have left us in the first place." Tony retorts.
"Hey,they were a big help with Night Rider, Tony." Steve says placing a hand on Tony's shoulder only to receive an eye roll from the billionaire.
"Speaking of Night Rider, where is she?" Bucky questions eagerly.
"Yeah, I really want to see who took us down last time." Agrees Wanda.
"You'll be surprised, trust me." Nat smirks standing up and walking towards Bruce with a fleet of avengers following behind her. Each of them look upon the girl with shock.
"She so young." Wanda gasps.
"How did a stupid 5 year old ruin my suit!" Tony complains walking over to Bruce.
"You're worse than Clint." Natasha exclaims. Bucky just walks away followed by a worried glance from the super soldier.
"Have you analyzed her blood yet?" Tony asks Bruce.
"Yes, I'm looking into Shields files right now to see if she's in the system." Bruce says typing away until clicking something open. "Found it." He says gesturing for Tony.
Tony goes over and reads it. "Her name is Lainey Jane Granberg and she's 14. 14!"
"14 years old! Wow." Wanda says taken back by this all. She knew hydra was bad, but not this horrible to drag a kid into their schemes. This caught everyone's attention, even Bucky's who recently lingered back over to the rest of the team.
"This doesn't make sense. She goes to Midtown High." Tony says confusion written all over his face.
"How So?" Bruce asks.
"It says she is a regular student who attends school. She has A's in practically all classes. Although, just recently she hasn't been seen in school for one and a half weeks with no excuse. She's been Night Rider for way longer than one week and a half. Plus she's going to school and doing well while being an Assassin for hydra." Tony explains.
"It's highly possible. They could send her to school to keep her cover. Especially if they're capable of wiping her memory like Bucky said. Then she'd go to school normally without any thoughts of her being an Assassin to enemies or just people in general." Natasha states.
"Or she could just fake it." Bruce suggests.
"While neither of you are wrong. How would she cover up injuries. I mean she would've had to received them after murdering, what, 500 people?" Clint interjects. Everyone is bewildered by this oncoming knowledge and don't know what to think.
Steve walks over to the the girl strapped unconscious on the table. She looked young but worn for her age. He could see the pain she was in by her facial expressions, and Steve knew that Bucky could see it the most out of everyone. That's what horrifies Bucky the most, the fact of how much pain she's endured considering her young age. Even though Bucky doesn't say it, it's obvious to Steve that he's concerned for the girl.
Mostly everyone is shocked, yet of course someone's still has a sense of humor (I never said it was good humor). Clint stifles a smile at the thought of Fury rubbing the fact that a 14 year old girl beat them in their faces. Clint looks up to his friends, "Boy do we have a surprise for Fury."How was it? Once again please leave me comments to encourage and give me ideas that would make this better. Trust me, I know it isn't the best😂 Hopefullyl this chapter was somewhat better and more entertaining than others. Thanks for my 37 reads. I honestly thought I'd never get past two, consisting of me and my sister. 😂
