Keith sat on the edge of my bed staring at the floor, I told him. Kacey heart stopped beating multiple times while I pushed him out & it completely stopped once he came out. They immediately rushed him into another room to perform surgery on his heart. As soon as I told Keith he walked out the room, I had no clue where he went but I've never seen Keith cry so Im pretty sure thats what happened. When he came back he didnt say a word to me or Nicole. I just kept staring at the cut under his eye. His cheek was bruised also.
My door opened, "did they say anything yet?" My mom and dad walked in but stopped once they saw Keith. "Oh. Hello Keith." My mom greeted him. My focus was on my dad since I know how he can be when he's upset at someone. Surprisingly he just sat in the chair away from us.
"Hi." Keith side hugged my mother.
"Well um." My mom looked over at Nicole and at my dad, " I didn't know Keith was here so, we'll wait for any news in the waiting area and give you two some space."
"I want to stay." Nicole whined.
"Girl lets go" my mom grabbed her arm and dragged her out the room and my father closed the door behind them.
I reached over and grabbed my cup of ice. I had nothing to say to Keith, I just want to know that my son is alright.
"I didn't know you were in labor Kourtny."
Here comes my tears. Ughhh "okay."
"Im serious Luke told me in the worse way but Im here now Im sorry." He walked towards me and hugged me. I couldnt fight it, tears came streaming down my cheeks and I hugged him so tight. "We'll make something work. Somehow."
I grabbed some tissue and wiped my face, "I didn't imagine us ever getting like this."
"I know Im sorry. I swear." He layed beside me. I scooted closer to him and soaked in the moment.
I chuckled, "he looks just like you."
"Oh yeah?"
"Nicole sent me the video of me pushing him out but I havent watched it yet ... doesnt seem like the right time."
"Such a happy moment turned to a sad moment, I get it."
"Yeah." I mumbled trying not to get teary eyed.
Keith and I had a moment. We both had to be there for eachother during this sad time. We prayed multiple times and his mom prayed for us over facetime too. I kept asking why havent Luke and Walter came yet since they were so excited since we found out about Kacey, plus they're the ones that told him Kacey was born. He'd just change the conversation everytime.
"Can I see your stitches?" He lefted up my blanket and reached up for my gown.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you." My nurse warned Keith while checking my vitals.
