1 year ago you lost him...River, your best friend. Between you and Keanu, it was him who was the most devasted. Of course you were too, but Keanu love him like a brother, he lost a brother that day. You remember it like it was yesterday, you and Keanu were on the set of your upcoming film Speed, Rain came on the set like usual since she was always visiting you but this time she looked panicked and broken. Her eyes were puffy, red and tears were threatening to go out. Huge dark circles under her eyes and the life gone in her eyes proved she was a broken soul. She told you what happened and Keanu couldn't believe it, nor did you.
You two were in Florida and decided to go visit the grave of your beloved best friend. Keanu went ahead of you and you stayed in the car. You tried to bury deep down in your heart the pain but you couldn't do it anymore. You broke down and let out horrible cries of agony. For a whole year, you didn't cry because you wanted to be there for Keanu and River's family. They needed someone who was enough strong to support them emotionally and you thought you could fill that role. Some people did wonder if you were heartless but you could care less about their opinions. Only Keanu and River's family knew how you truly were and that was enough.
A few minutes and you quickly wiped away the tears still hanging on your cheeks and composed yourself to look presentable.
Your steps were light, inaudible to hear easily. Keanu was on his knees, his hand on top of the grey tombstone with River's name graved on it. His back was facing you and in the empty silent ranch, faint sobs and sniffing echoed in the air.
-''I should have been here with you Riv. If I was there, I could have protect you and you wouldn't be 6 feet down. I love you and you'll always have a place in my heart brother. I remember the promise I made to you about protecting Y/N if anything happen to you and I will keep that promise. I will protect her until the day I die, I promise.'' he exclaimed, in a hoarse voice.
You hugged him and he got himself up to hug you back properly. Both of you didn't need to speak up yet, the feeling of warmth from your embrace was all you needed.
-''Even if Rio is no longer here with us, you are not alone. I'm here for you and we need to stay strong for him. He is here with us, his soul is near us and in our hearts.'' You said, placing a kiss on Keanu's forehead.
-''Thank you Y/N, thank you for everything. I don't know what I would do if you weren't there with me and support me.'' He spoke up in gratitude.
