MINA HATED THE plan. She really did.
Of course she wouldn't tell Peter that, not in a thousand years. Much as she loved him, he could be sensitive and now might not be the best time for him to get butt-hurt and clam up .
But her mind was supposed to be on other things, especially since her time was coming soon. Any second now, Tony would be calling her codeword.
She listened intently, straining her ears for the familiar bossy, sarcastic tone of Iron Man. When she heard his voice, Mina locked on it and listened as he continued speaking loudly to Squidward.
"-Saving his life is more of a professional courtesy." Tony was saying.
"You've saved nothing. Your powers are inconsequential to mine." The haughty, nasal voice of Squidward said. Mina scowled, adjusting her mask as she sensed her que was coming up.
"Yeah but the kids have seen more movies. Kitty!" Tony yelled and Mina reacted instantly.
She jumped down from her crouching position, immediately dropping onto the metal floor and drawing her sword. As Squid reacted, Mina rolled forward and kicked him in the stomach, sending him painfully tumbling back.
Mina stood back up, blocking a blow from the alien as he stood back up and lunged at her. She held her arm out in front of her, then brought her fist straight up, punching Squidy hard in the jaw.
He stumbled back but this time he didn't attack her directly. Instead, he held up his arms and brought his hands forward slightly. Mina was confused for a second, then she saw what he had done.
Some of the metal from the wall had floated away from its original place and then, at Squid's command they formed into small, metal balls. They suddenly shot at Mina and she ducked into a small ball, trying to protect herself.
It did little and the balls hit her left side with stinging pangs of hurt. She made the mistake of putting her head up because as soon as she did, a ball hit her square in the broken nose.
She leapt back in shock as bright, hot pain exploded in her nose and she let out an startled scream. She clawed at her face, only wanting the pain to go away but then she let her arms drop as her fingers brushed her purple, swollen nose.
Mina noticed the pelts of the metal balls had stopped and she cautiously looked up. She noticed Tony standing next to a broken hole in the ship, patching it up with some sort of silver liquid metal.
Tears stung her eyes but she brushed them away, standing back up, also noticing the absence of Squidward and more importantly, Peter. She looked around, panicked.
She relaxed as she spotted him a couple feet away from her and as he glanced around for her, the two locked eyes. Peter rushed over to her as Mina struggled to subdue the pain in her face, pinching her arm to try to force herself to focus on something else.
