The next morning I wake up late, and speed around to ensure that I'm not late; which I have been on a few occasions in the past. It's not my fault I'm a bad timekeeper, it's just how I'm built.

Anyway, it's no longer a Monday, and it's a brand new day for me to get matchmaking. I pull on my uniform, brush through my hair and brush my teeth and practically fall down the stairs to eat breakfast.

'Woah there Eva! What's the rush?'

'It's 8:30! I normally leave at 7:50!'

'Eva it's 7:30'

Mum laughs at me while I fall into the kitchen chair, and stare at my watch. She's right, I'm used to being such a failure I expected to be late.

She's frying bacon, and puts a few washers on to a plate with scrambled egg and beans and hands it to me. I thank her then notice that Billy has been sitting here the whole time, he's too busy reading the back of a cereal box to notice me, though.

Mum sits opposite me with a mug of black coffee in her hands and starts to talk to me,

'So, Eva... about that boy. It's George isn't it?'

I sigh,

'Yeah, he's George'

She shifts in her chair and looks at me smugly,

'He's a handsome boy, Eva'

'Is he?'

She frowns,

'Hey! I know you've had trouble with boys in the past but he's different, I can tell'

I roll my eyes, and stand up. I've left most of my food, but I have to get out of here ASAP.

'Mum please, I'm setting him up with Alice'

'Letting him go, you're a fool to do that'

'I've had enough of boys'

'That's what they all say'

She gives me the smug look again and I swing my bag over my shoulder and head out of the back door.

'Bye mum'

'See you tonight, have fun with lover boy!'

I roll my eyes and she laughs, and I make my way to school in the pouring rain.

I don't see Alice this morning, sometimes her dad drops her off, but that's only when she sleeps round his house which can be whenever.

I curse quietly as my hair gets drenched as I hear a bike coming up behind me, I step to the side to let it pass when I notice it slowing down.

'Hello, Eva'

'Morning George'

His quiff has been flattened slightly by the rain, but his fangs are on show nonetheless as he beams at me through the raindrops.

'You mind if I walk with you?'

'George you've got a bike, why would you want to walk in this weather?'

'I'd rather walk than you trek through the rain alone'

I smile at him as he gets off his bike and pulls it along as we walk alongside each other. Soon enough, we arrive at school, and we find Alice in the cafeteria where we ate lunch yesterday.

She looks perfect in comparison to us,  every part of us completely drenched. She's writing something in one of her exercise books and looks up at us and does a double take when she notices our state.
