(Post Heroes of Olympus)
~Annabeth's POV~Annabeth stared at the picture in her locker.
She missed him so much, it was starting to hurt.Sighing, she gathered her books for the next class, just as the bell went.
"Hey Annie." A feminine voice sneered somewhere to her left.
Annabeth turned, and found herself face-to-face with her least favourite people: Kellie and Natasha. They were everybody's favourite girls. Well, except for Annabeth.
"Go on any dates recently?" Though Annabeth was doubtful Kellie actually cared what went on in her life, it sounded more like the start of some teasing.
And she was right.
"Ha yeah. Probably loads..." Natasha said sarcastically. "With her books!"
Annabeth rolled her eyes as she slammed her locker door. "It's Annabeth," she said, through gritted teeth, "and I do have a boyfriend."
She squared up to the girls. But they seemed unfazed, despite the fact that she was taller than both of them.
They smiled innocently enough, though their eyes told a different story. Just like a lot of the other girls at Annabeth's school, they didn't like her very much.
"Oh!" Kellie turned to her brown-haired minion, mock surprise plastered on her face. "Did you hear that Nat? Blondie's got a boyfriend."
She used air quotes around "boyfriend"; talking about it the same way most mortals would talk about aliens or greek myths.
It infuriated Annabeth at how annoyingly stupid some mortal teenagers were. If a monster had teased her this much, she would have cut it in half by now. Her grey eyes blazed with anger, but it only earned further teasing from the two girls.
"Oh dear Beth. Lying about having a boy is just tragic." She tutted disapprovingly. "I'm sure you'll find somebody."
"Yeah," Natasha agreed with more feigned concern, "don't worry about it Annie, there might be a few cute boys hanging around the library today."
They smiled deviously. Kellie's dark eyeliner was so badly done, Annabeth was almost sure she was an empousa.
Except, she was sure these girls were mortal. Even she-devils were not this stupid, or this badly dressed.
Annabeth huffed, "You're just wasting my time now." Before walking straight through the girls.
"Awwww, Chase has got an attitude." Kellie taunted.
Annabeth scowled at them as she walked to her next class. Trying to pull off her best wolf stare (which she'd learnt from Jason).
"Careful Annie! You might scare away your boyfriend with that look." Natasha laughed. And the two girls took off, no doubt looking for a new target.
—————
Annabeth breathed a sigh of relief as she stepped out into the sunlight. Glad she had finally escaped the florescent lighting and cramped hallways, if only for a little while.
Classes were over, and she couldn't wait to see him. It'd been too long since they last went on a date.
Ellie must have picked up on her eagerness too. Her dark haired friend smiled at Annabeth, "Gee, somebody's excited for a Tuesday afternoon."
