Her least favourite place in the universe, with the person she loves the most.
(Post Heroes of Olympus)
~Annabeth's POV~Percy was covered head to toe, in red dust and black dirt. Cuts ran down from top to bottom, all along his arms, his legs, even his face. Annabeth knew exactly where they were- where she had seen this before, and she was terrified.
They were in hell.
But it wasn't the poison slowly creeping towards her, or the fact that they were in another certain-death scenario for the thousandth time that scared her. It was the expression on his face. That scared her the most.
She couldn't recognise her Percy, staring into those green eyes, dark with hate. He had so much anger, it rolled off him in waves. She'd never seen him this way before. It scared her so much, she wanted to roll up into a ball and shiver.
Percy was never this scary right?
Annabeth knew she wasn't wrong. Akhlys herself, trembled in fear as the poison halted its advance on them and came straight back at the god of misery.
Percy looked so cruel- as if he suited doing something so horrible, choking a goddess with her own bodily fluids. Annabeth couldn't bear it. What had Tartarus done to him? Her sweet Percy, so kind and gentle, what was he doing?
His face was twisted with the sick pleasure from choking the goddess. It made Annabeth's stomach churn. How could he enjoy something so evil?
"Percy... please. Stop." She begged him.
But he wouldn't look at her. He wasn't stopping. Annabeth could feel the crushing panic rising in her chest.
The poison was moving towards her as well now.
"Percy! Stop!" She screamed.
Annabeth scooted backwards as the poison crept towards her, moving in like the tide from sea. Akhlys was quiet now. Deadly silent. Annabeth felt sick, she had a sneaky feeling the goddess wasn't staying quiet out of choice.
Tears streamed down her cheeks. Why was Percy doing this to her? He would never hurt her, would he?
Yet, here he was, about to impose the same fate on her as Akhlys. She stared at him through blurry vision, the poison making her eyes water. Percy kept his head low, looking down at the ground.
The poison was centimetres away and she sobbed. She wanted to scream at him. But she couldn't make a sound.
Then, he looked up.
But it wasn't Percy's face. It was Luke's, and his eyes were gold. He smiled, the white scar across his face rippled with cruelty.
Annabeth's heart stopped. The poison had reached her shoes, burning away at her, bit by bit.
"I'm sorry Annabeth," was all she could hear him mutter, as the dark liquid engulfed her vision, swallowing her whole.
—————
Annabeth screamed.
She opened her eyes. She wasn't in hell anymore.
She was actually in bed. In fact, she was in Percy's bed. In Percy's bedroom.
And Percy was asleep next to her, snoring softly. Sighing in relief, she wiped the cold sweat off her forehead and tried to control her breathing.
Annabeth turned sideways and studied her boyfriend's face. Thank the gods, Percy still looked the same. But of course he did, it was just a nightmare. She could see the drool forming on his pillow, making her smile.
She was glad she hadn't woken him up, but at the same time she kind of wished he had. Just so she could look into his gorgeous green eyes, which definitely weren't gold.
She leaned forward and kissed his cheek, pushing the hair out of his eyes, as they fluttered open slightly. He smiled at her sleepily, and kissed her in return. Before he wrapped his arms around her waist and buried his face into her neck.
"I love you," he mumbled dopily, so sweet and gentle, completely unlike her dream.
Annabeth smiled like an idiot. It was just a stupid nightmare. He was fine. And so was she.
They would be okay because not only were they still alive, they were together.
And that was all that mattered.
