Prologue
"Promise me you won't open your eyes until I say so? Promise me you won't open them? Don't listen to what anybody says. Okay?" I could here the panic in her voice.
"I promise." I whispered.
"I'll be back before you know it. Don't open your eyes!"
And then she was gone. I heard her scream. I heard the deep voices yell at me to open my eyes. I heard her last scream of pain. I heard it all. But did see anything? Nope, I kept my eyes closed like I promised.
