The days were now flying away quickly. Before they knew it, half-term was in a few days. Gwendoline was still in Coventry and no one spoke to her. No one asked if they could come with her or if her folks were coming. She decided that she would tell her mother that all her friends had their folks with them.
Half term came and went. It was that time of the term when students were allowed to go with their folks for a day. On that day, Shasha got up early like always and got dressed. They had their breakfast and waited for their folks to arrive. The first car to arrive was a blue mini van with red rimmed tyres.
"Oh the first car has arrived," called Sophia. "Shasha it's your mother." Sophia had asked Shasha a few days ago if she could go with her. Shasha had wrote to her mother to ask if Sophia could follow. Her mother obligingly said yes and that she would love to see Shasha's new friend.
Sophia followed Shasha to see her mother. Shasha introduced them both to each other.
"Mommy, this is Sophia my new friend," said Shasha. "Sophia this is my mother as you already know."
"Of course I already know," said Sophia. "The two of you look so alike."
"Yeah I do take after my mother a lot," said Shasha. "Mommy, I want to show you around the school first."
While they were taking Shasha's mother into the school, they saw Gwendoline with her mother and a plump woman.
"Gwendoline darling, I'm so glad to see you again!" said her mother.
Together, Shasha and Sophia took Shasha's mother around their school.
"Mommy, this is our dorm and this is my bed, this is Sophia's bed. They are next to each other just as we like it,"said Shasha. "This is the common room for our form in this tower."
"Our tower has the best view of the beach here, Mrs....," said Sophia, not knowing what to call Shasha's mother.
"Just call me auntie," said Shasha's mother. "Most of Shasha's friends back in our country call me that."
"Oh okay, auntie," said Sophia, warming towards Shasha's mother. "This is the swimming pool made naturally by the rocks."
After the girls had shown Shasha's mother the school, they went in her car to the hill to to have a nice picnic.
Shasha's mother took out a big basket full of food and laid it down on the blanket that she has laid. Then, she laid the food. They were Malaysian food of course.
Shasha and Sophia had really enjoyed the picnic she prepared.
"Malaysians really like spicy food, don't they," said Sophia. "I cannot bear to eat spicy food without turning red and sweat like crazy."
"Well your nose is really red already," said Shasha. "Whoa you really can't handle spice, can you."
"Well that's sunburn, silly!" said Sophia rubbing her red nose. "Haven't you ever had one?"
"Nope I haven't," said Shasha. "What does it feel like?"
"Well it burns and the skin peels away," said Sophia." "Seriously Shasha, you have never been sunburnt?"
"Well I have been sunburnt once," said Shasha's mother. "I went to a beach one hot afternoon and never went to any beach in the afternoons again."
"Oh no wonder I have never been sunburnt," said Shasha. "We usually go to the beach early like 7 in the morning and be back before noon."
"That's no wonder," said Sophia. "The sun isn't even that hot at that time of the day..."
"I like it in this cool weather," asked Shasha. "It's really hot in my country."
"You said it was 30 degrees there right?" said Sophia "Well I guess I shall get burnt sat a daily basis at that rate."
"Nah not if you wear sunscreen," said Shasha. "But you can get tanned easily."
"Maybe I should come and visit your country sometime," said Sophia. "I think I'll come there during the hols with my family."
"Sure you can," said Shasha's mother. "We'll come with you to the beach too!"
"Yay! I'm sure my family will like it," said Sophia. "I'll write to her and ask her opinion."
So Shasha and Sophia enjoyed their day with Shasha's mother but unfortunately the day came to an end and everyone felt sad. They all had dinner and went to bed at the dormy.
