Hidden Love (DMC 5 Nero x OC) [completed]

I was looking up child images/ fanarts of Nero and this one is literally the cutest. I cropped it so those who haven't played the game yet get too spoilered.

Two months later:

After meeting up almost every day Nero and Rose got really close and are inseparable, almost like siblings.

Nero knocks at Rose's front door and it opens after a few seconds revealing Adeline.
"Oh, Nero! Back so soon", She says jokingly as the young boy came by the day before.
"You have to look out. Rose's brother is getting jealous." She winks at Nero as he enters the house with a bright smile.
Tiny footsteps are heard from upstairs. "'Nero", Rose shouts with a clear and joyful voice and jumps down the stairs right into Nero's arms.
"Mom, can we go out for ice cream", The blonde asks. "Again? You had it yesterday."
Adeline crosses her arms in front of her chest with a raised eyebrow while the two children put on their puppy faces.
"Okay, fine", The mother sighs in defeat and gives Nero some money. "But don't spend it all like last time."
"Understood, Mrs A!"

The two children run off into town to the ice cream café and each get a cone of their favorite flavor, that being strawberry for both.
They sit down on a bench at the nearby park and talk about their day so far.
"My brother is jealous of you", Rose chuckles. "If he's jealous he should play with you more."
"He thinks it's boring and that he's too old for it."
Both continue eating their ice cream.
"Hey, I'm going to the bathroom. Stay here and don't go chasing after a butterfly again, okay", Nero says as he jumps off the bench as Rose just grins innocently. "I pinky promise!"

After Nero runs off into the café Rose looks around the park.
Many people have gathered here today. Doesn't matter if it's with their family, their pets or taking a break from work.
"Hey, little one."
Rose looks up into the eyes of an old man with crusty skin and grey hair. "I have newborn bunnies at my house. Would you like to see them?"
The blonde blinks multiple times as she doesn't know what to do.
The man is tall and big and impossible to get rid of telling by the way he stands.
"My mom said I shouldn't go with strangers", The young girl says and pulls her knees up to her chest.
"I'm not a stranger! You can really trust me!" Rose looks around to the other people in order to find help if things get out of hand. "I don't want to go", She says now a little louder trying to get the attention of the other civilians.

Suddenly the hold man grabs her wrist. "You're coming with me if you like it or not", He growls and tightens his grip causing Rose to yelp in pain. Tears form at the corners of her eyes as she tries to hold onto the bench while the man keeps pulling onto her arm.
"I don't want to", She cries as her strength gives in and the man drags her after him.
"Hey!"
Both turn around to the cause of the voice. "Let her go", Nero shouts with an angry glare catching the attention of the others in the park. "She said she doesn't want to go with you."
The old man laughs pulling Rose towards him. "And who do you think you are to tell me that? A superhero? How hilarious!"

All of a sudden male civilians grab the man by his shoulders and try to free the weeping Rose out his grip.
As she comes free she runs into Nero's arm who apologizes over and over for leaving her alone on the bench. "H-he tried to take me", Rose stutters as tears run down her puffy cheeks.
"I know, I'm sorry." Nero brushes through her hair with his fingers which seems to calm the blonde in situations like this. He learned that ever since they met.
"From now on I won't leave you out of my sight, I promise", Nero says as he tightens the hug which Rose gladly returns.

Time-skip to present time:

Rose's eyes flutter open at the faint sound of birds chirping outside the window.
The first thing she sees after her dream of memories is Nero, the man who saved her so many times she even lost count.
Tenderly she caresses his cheek even though the movement pains her.
Surprised by Nero suddenly opening his eyes she pulls her hand away.
"You're awake", Nero says with a smile and a groggy voice.
Rose nods in return as she tries to remember what happened.
"A demon snuck up to us... and you saved my life by taking the hit", Nero explains as he seemed to have noticed the blonde's confusion.

He sits up to take a look at your stitches.
"Those green gems really do wonders, huh", He mumbles as he sees that Rose's wounds are almost completely closed.
"You'll be healed in no time", Nero says to Rose who just lays there motionless.
"Every move hurts", She returns with a silent voice causing Nero to chuckle.

"We'll get through this together, okay?"
He takes her hand in his and gently smiles at her which she returns.
"Now that we're together I won't run from your side."
