It was a little after 1 am when I finally walked through the front doors of the Salvatore school with a hoodie in my hand. Luckily I have clothes hidden everywhere outside incase I rip out of mine while changing or else I would be naked right now. It happened once or twice, not a happy memory for me.
My legs were sore and I was having a hard time keeping myself upright, I was dead tired. Not to mention I looked like I got hit by a truck. My hair was a mess to say the least, and I was downright filthy. I needed a shower badly I thought just as my stomach growled. Right. Food first, shower later.
I decided to head towards the kitchen when a sleepy Lizzie walking the halls caught my eye. 'What are you doing up?' I asked. She looked at me worried. 'I just woke up and Josie still wasn't in bed, she went to see you earlier. But I walked passed your room and she wasn't there.' I felt panic shoot through my body and it kind of surprised me. She's probably fine, but it worried me still. 'I'll help you look'.
We headed through the lounge and I instantly calmed down, I could already smell the sweet scent of Josie Saltzman and it lead to the kitchen. Lizzie and I stood in the doorway and saw Josie fast asleep with her head on her arms sitting at the kitchen counter. I turned to Lizzie. 'She really wanted to talk to me?'
'Yeah, I gave her a pep talk.' Lizzie winked and told me to make sure Josie ended up sleeping in her own bed tonight before she yawned and headed back to her room.
I stood in the doorway rather awkward, she's gonna freak out when I'm the one to wake her.
Oh well.
I threw my hoodie on the counter and stepped closer to Josie's sleeping body, she looked absolutely gorgeous wearing her short black jumpsuit again with heels to match. Her hair messy and wavy. Okay now I feel like a creep. I swiped a stray piece of hair out of her face before leaning in closer, god this girl smells amazing. That's it I'm doomed. 'Josie? Josie? Jo?.. wake up sleepyhead..'
Nothing.
You've got to be kidding me. This girl could sleep through WW3. I took a deep breath which was a big mistake. The way Josie smelled was intoxicating, I licked my lips as I almost sank my teeth into her earlobe.
Dammit Hope! I thought as I took a step backwards.
Okay, food first. I quickly fixed up a grilled cheese sandwich. As I put the sandwich on my plate and walked over to where Josie was still sleeping I noticed the girl starting to stir.
'Well good morning sunshine.' I couldn't help but smile.
'Hope?' The girl questioned when sitting upright and running her hands through her hair. 'Is this one of those fantasy dreams again?' She spoke eying the sandwich and me curiously.
'Depends, is it about me or the grilled cheese?' I can't help but smirk, Josie still eying me all drowsy. She's adorable.
'Trust me, it's surprisingly accurate.' And with that sentence Josie realized she wasn't dreaming. I put the plate in between us and took a seat next to the now blushing girl before offering her half of my sandwich.
She took it with a shy smile saying thanks.
'Why aren't you in bed?' I questioned.
'I came over to talk to you when I saw you running for the trees barefoot, so I figured you'd be out late, running.' Josie swallowed her bite. 'So I thought I'd wait here for you.' She smiled shyly refusing to look me in the eye.
I noticed her shivering so I got up and grabbed my hoodie from the counter. 'Arms up princess.' Josie looked confused for a second so I smiled and showed her the sweater. 'Oh, I'm okay.'
'No. You're not, I can hear your teeth clattering.' I laughed softly.
Josie smiled that shy smile again before putting her arms up so I could slide the hoodie over her head. 'Better?'
'Yeah much.'
I must've stepped closer as we now were only inches apart. I swallowed thickly as Josie's sweet scent hit me again. I couldn't help myself. 'So you dressed up all for me?' Josie didn't know where to look before she decided down was the best choice, nodding her head slowly.
I put my fingers under her chin carefully and lifted her head up so our eyes could meet again. Josie's breath hitched as I was now standing in between her legs. So close, her eyes searching mine before shifting to my lips. And from that moment I was gone. My skin grew hot again, and I figured my eyes turned yellow when Josie's eyes grow big and she flinched away.
'I'm sorry Hope, please I can't stand you being mad at me anymore.' Josie's eyes started to water and I got confused for a second. 'Jo, I'm not mad. I wasn't in the first place. It's okay, it's always been okay.. ' I whispered taking her hands in mine. 'What just happened?'
''You're eyes changed color, and that only happens when you're mad, You had the same look last time when I saw you in the hallway. You looked at me like you wanted to tear my head clean off.' Josie sniffed fidgeting with the strings of my hoodie.
I let out a laugh. Josie's eyes shot up confused. 'Josie, baby.' She blushed at the nickname. I guess I better be honest, I would never hurt her in a million years. I have to make sure she knows that.
Now it was my turn to blush. 'That. Wasn't. Anger.. that was frustration.' I managed to get out. My voice got low as I lifted my hands to grab Josie by the sides of my hoodie and pull her a bit closer. I could hear her heart beating in sync with mine. It was beating so loud I was sure she could hear mine too. I leaned in closer to her ear. 'The only thing I wanted to tear off of you was this jumpsuit'.
I leaned back again and Josie's mouth fell open. I wanted to kiss those lips so bad. But I knew I couldn't, not just yet. There was one thing I needed to do first, and I didn't want to think about it. Not right now.
'I could never be mad at you. Okay?' I gave her a soft smile, and after a couple of seconds I got a nod and a soft 'okay.'
Both rendered speechless I felt bold and lifted the dark haired girl up bridal style. Josie squeaked. 'Time for bed princess!' We both started to laugh loudly, I looked Josie in the eyes again and the tears were gone, luckily they were back to sparkling again. I carried her back all the way to her room with her arms tightly around my neck. She let out a yawn as I gave her a kiss on top of her head.
'Are you gonna be okay walking the five feet to your bed alone?' I said smiling widely when our journey came to a stop. Josie's head shook vigorously from left to right holding me even tighter. 'The things I do to make you smile.' I sighed making Josie laugh. 'Ssshhh, Lizzie is sleeping.' I told the dark haired girl her eyebrow shooting up, challenging me. I turned around, Josie still safely in my arms as I pushed the door open with my butt. I tip toe-ed to Josie's bed and just dropped her onto the covers laughing silently. Her mouth wide open and eyes big.
'Get some sleep princess, I'll see you in the morning?'
As Josie got under the covers she smiled sweetly and nodded before closing her eyes and wrapping herself in her blanket.
'Can't wait, sweet dreams Jo-jo.' I whispered.
The girl was already fast asleep, still smiling.
