Evelyn shifted in bed and tossed her covers aside, sweating from the sweet autumn heat of Virginia. She huffed as she opened her oceans eyes, adjusting them to the light creeping into the room from the curtains. She sat in silence and looked up at the ceiling, lost in her thoughts. Soon enough, she was startled by the loud beeping of her alarm. She groaned, so much for getting one last good night sleep before school starts, she thought.
Her bedroom door bursted opened and Evelyn jumped, surprised by the sudden noise from none other than Caroline Forbes. "Get up, Ev! It's the first day of school and junior year!" Caroline Forbes was her twin– fraternal twin to be exact.
Evelyn was older than Caroline by 12 minutes. They looked nothing alike and some even confused them for cousins. Caroline got her Mother's beautiful blonde locks, while Evelyn was left with her Father's brown hair that cascaded down her back, unlike Caroline's, that stopped at her shoulders. The only thing that they had physically in common, was their stunningly, soft blue eyes.
Personality wise, they were practically the same person. They were both kind-hearted, loyal and caring to the ones they loved but that didn't mean they didn't come with a bad side. Caroline was self-centred, she wanted everything to be about her– she craved the attention. Evelyn on the other hand, hated it, but that didn't mean she wasn't selfish. She unknowingly put her own needs before others and sometimes forgot how the other person felt in certain situations. But that didn't mean she didn't care about those she hurt, she just had a hard time expressing her emotions. Not to mention, both Evelyn and Caroline had major insecurity issues that only they reside in talking about with each other, late at night in the comfort of their beds.
Evelyn didn't come off as an open book to those around her. In fact, she was quite the opposite. The thought of somebody taking advantage of how she felt made her become paranoid, and so she held off on letting her true feelings come out. The only emotion she really liked to showcase in front of people was her happiness. She still kept her beautiful smile on her face when something didn't go her way, or when somebody had upset her, or even when jealously threatened to creep it's way into her heart and poison her mind. Occasionally, she let her anger get the best of her when somebody had pissed her off, but what person doesn't react in that way?
Evelyn groaned and swung her legs, letting them fall beside her bed. "How the hell are you so chirpy this early in the morning?"
Caroline laughed as she stood by Evelyn's bedroom door, clad in her pyjamas and bunny slippers. "Because, it's a new school year, meaning we get to start fresh. Whatever happened last year is swept under the rug and we can start new," she gushed. That's Caroline for you. Seeing the positive in everything and making you feel better in an instance.
Evelyn made her way to Caroline, a hand on her door, ready to close it. "Alright, you roped me in. Now, are you going to let me get ready in peace or are you going to keep spewing your positivity at me?" She teased, shutting her door, not caring about Caroline's response.
