"The Battle of Willow Creek took place right at the end of the war in our very own Mystic Falls. How many casualties resulted in this battle? Ms. Bennett?" Mr. Tanner asked Bonnie, who looked like she wasn't listening to anything he said.
"Um...a lot? I'm not sure. Like a whole lot," she answered back as Evelyn snorted quietly.
"Cute becomes dumb in an instant, Ms. Bennett. Mr. Donovan? Would you like to take this opportunity to overcome your embedded jock stereotype?" Evelyn rolled her eyes. Typical Tanner, always picking on people.
"It's okay, Mr. Tanner, I'm cool with it," Matt said with a smirk. Evelyn must've snickered a bit too loudly because then Mr. Tanner's attention was on her.
"Ah, Miss Forbes. Surely, you would like to enlighten us with the answer?" Oh shit, Evelyn thought.
"Um," she pretended to pounder the answer but nothing was coming to her. "I don't know."
"Not good enough, Miss Forbes. I told you, you needed to straighten in my class this year. I don't want a repeat of last year's behaviour." Evelyn winced as her heart sank. She felt embarrassed and not to mention, worthless. Fucking asshole, Evelyn thought as she sunk lower in her seat.
"There were 346 casualties. Unless you're counting local civilians," Stefan answered. Evelyn turned to him, surprised.
"That's correct. Mister...?"
"Salvatore."
"Salvatore. Any relation to the original settlers here at Mystic Falls?"
"Distant."
"Well, very good. Except, of course, there were no civilian casualties in this battle."
"Actually, there were 27, sir. Confederate soldiers, they fired on the church, believing it to be housing weapons. They were wrong. It was a night of great loss. The founder's archives are, uh, stored in civil hall if you'd like to brush up on your facts, Mr. Tanner." You could clearly detect the sarcasm in his voice which made the class snicker. Evelyn had her mouth wide open as she smiled widely at Stefan.
Mr. Tanner finally fell on his ass, all thanks to the new kid and Evelyn couldn't be happier.

Evelyn let out a loud, joyful laugh as she took a sip from the red solo cup she was holding. Bonnie, Elena and Evelyn were huddled up together in a corner, chatting about Stefan.
"Just admit it, Elena."
Evelyn nodded. "Yeah Elena, admit it. He's cute as," she teased while she took another sip from her cup.
"Oh, okay, so he's a little pretty."
"He has that romance novel stare." All the girls laughed as they kept chatting
