A/N: I'M SO SORRY! I'M STILL ALIVE I PROMISE, stuff has just been happening but none of you care so here is another chapter, once again...sorry
FINNS POV
I followed the instructions from Y/N's text and pounced on the tv remote sitting on the hotel sofa. I flicked on the tv and changed the channel where I was greeted with the title of an american talk show. The host' thick New York accent sounded through the speakers "and our next guest happens to be a canadian model that took social media by storm in 2016 and has been relevant ever since, for the first time ever please welcome Y/N Y/L/N!" the crowd cheered as a large lump formed in my throat which was growing tighter with each breath.
I watched my girlfriend dressed in a little black dress, diamonds dotted across one of the sleeves, she seemed so calm and confident, the audience would never have known how last minute the interview really was.
"Y/N!" the smiley host greeted her with a kiss on the cheek before they both took a seat "how are you" she smiled at him as they chatted away, I completely zoned out for a few minutes before Sophia tapped my arm, announcing her confusion as she'd just arrived to my solo viewing party
"she uhm, Y/N is clearing up some rumours I think..." I grabbed the remote and turned up the volume to hear the host saying "now you have a lot of people confused by this photo" he chuckled as a picture clearly taken by a nosey paparazzi appeared on the screen.
(i know she's extremely young in this gif but imagine this as her reaction)
Y/N laughed and dramatised her embarrassment making it seem lighter than it really was, what was she going to say? how would the media take this? will they hate me? will the hate her?! "brave move" I heard Sophia whisper from next to me but I pretended to pay no attention
"so? care to explain why Elliott Smith apparently proposed and you have no ring on" he laughed again obviously trying to avoid an awkward situation. Y/n held up her hand to the audience and cameras to prove she was in fact not wearing an engagement ring.
She smiled and took a deep breath "Well as you may know Eli and I have been dating for a little under three years" the crowd clapped causing Y/N to pause, I could tell she was terrified, I could see she was racking her brain to remember the story she'd probably rehearsed many times while travelling.
"I really do love Eli" she continued once the cheers had died down "but we just weren't working out, and we were on the same page about our relationship s-" "doesn't seem like it" the host teased playfully making the audience laugh and Y/N swallow and paste on a cheshire cat-like smile "what a dick" Sophia commented again, this time I nodded in agreement.
Y/N began to speak again, this was painful to watch "after talking with one another we decided we were too young to get married and we should instead go out and explore the options the world has to offer and I know it sounds cheesy but you wanted to know so" she smiled again, if you didn't know the real situation, you wouldn't guess how forced that expression is.
"well we are almost out of time but let me ask one more thing" he said and Y/N nodded "are you and Eli still dating?" the room was silent before the girl answered "no, we are better as friends at the moment. "Well thank you for joining us miss Y/L/N" "aw thanks for having me" my girlfriend grinned one last time before turning to the camera "Y/N Y/L/N everyone!" and with that the audience clapped and the screen was filled with adverts.
YOUR POV
I marched backstage basically ripping off my mic as the various crew members jumped back suddenly aware of my temper. "Where's jonathan" I asked, anger in my voice exposing my true emotion more than I meant to "here" I heard my managers familiar voice behind me. I turned around before wrapping my arms around his torso,
"I need to go" I mumbled into his chest and I felt him nod "okay we just need to-" "no, John I mean I really need to go home...now" I cut him off in desperation "okay okay, you go wait by the back door, I'll grab your stuff but don't leave yet, there's bound to be paps at the exit". I nodded thankfully before we went our separate ways.
Sure enough, there was a sea of reporters and paparazzi outside but in less than 10 minutes Jonathan was next to me again. He passed me my hoodie which I threw over my dress - making sure the hood covered my head in attempt to shield the cameras. "Alright there's about 7 metres to the car you guys ready?" one of the body guards asked in which Jonathan nodded.
we all burst through the door, the guards pushing in as the reporters did also - trying to get a word in. I felt as if the world was caving in and a feeling I knew all to well came from my past to crush my lungs and cloud my vision. I pushed it away almost as hard as John was pushing the paparazzi away. I wasn't about to have a panic attack in this hoard of scoop thirsty people.
eventually we got to the car door and we were basically thrown into the safety of the car before the door was slammed shut and locked. The engine came to life as Jonathan hastily turned to me "hey hey you good?" he asked, clearly flustered aswell "y-yup I'm fine" I breathed as I tried so desperately to slow my mind and not tumble into a panic attack.
"where to first boss" the driver asked "Y/N's apartment then mine thanks" my manager instructed as my breathes steadied and we sped out of the parking lot.
