"She's gonna be fine." Latisha clicked her pen and tucked her clipboard underneath her arm.

     Relief washed over him, "Really?"

"Well if you think dead is fine, then yes."

Leon went white. His heart broke knowing that it would never beat beside Daya's, held snug in a tiger's blood dress. No, no, no, no dead? His fault. This was all his fault. Why did he push her, why? She told him over and over, and what did he do? Nothing. Absolutely no-

Doctor Raye fell back laughing and clapped him on his back, "Your face! You really do love her, huh?"

Leon's face heated with fiery anger. It festered and grew, but taking one look at the door, he extinguished the flames, "Y-You were joking!?"

"It was either that or telling you she was pregnant."

     "That's not funny!"

"I found it quite funny, thank you very much, buzz kill."

His fingers twitched. Teeming with ignition, Leon sucked in his cheeks. How could she tell him that Daya was dead or pregnant for that matter?

Pregnant.

Pictures flooded his mind before he could stop them. In one, Daya held a positive pregnancy test. In another, he found himself in the drive through of a burrito place at midnight. He grinned; she must've been craving that. And the baby bump, it fit her in a way that made her waddle from side to side as she walked.

Daya being pregnant never crossed his mind much. Leon found himself focusing more on raising the child together, maybe even loathing the nine month wait. But now, he wasn't so sure. Was that really all it was? A wait?

"You should watch your-" He watched as Latisha raised an eyebrow, "Ah, you know what? Forget it! How is she?"

"Uh huh, your fiance is holding up well. I've given her pills for the fever, so those should knock her out for a few hours. Tell her to take the same amount tomorrow."

     "And the cough?"

"An inhaler, two puffs every four hours for two days." She passed it to him, "Which will be your responsibly."

     "My responsi- why?"

"Someone has to wake her up, and I figured you would rather do it than her father."

Leon furrowed his brow and palmed the device, "Are you trying to help me... flirt with Daya?"

     "Oh, so you have noticed!"

     "Why, though?"

"Have you not seen the way she looks at you?! For crying out loud, ever since the wedding she's been all over you!"

All over him? He chewed his cheek, deep in thought. Before the wedding, Daya had tried to make things work, but after?

     "She has?"

"King Leon, pardon me but, for as much as you act like you're God's gift to women, you're downright oblivious."

     "I do not!"

Doctor Raye took off her glasses, "I don't even need these to see that."

"Just- ugh! You're unbearable, you know that?"

"Yup, and I'm quite proud of it."

"Whatever, you're just lucky I need you." Leon raked his hand across his face, "Anyway, when can I see Daya?"
