I couldn't get him out of my head. He was many things; a complicated person was one of them, but I could read him like an open book.

First, there were his eyes. He always kept a serious facade, but his eyes told all. Sad, scared and lonely. Deep, misty pools of dark chocolate that you could get lost in; they glittered in the sunlight; simply put, they were beautiful. But they were expressive. You could look into his eyes and see past the wall that he had spent years building, a wall that blocked out all emotion. I knew he was afraid to give up control. To be vulnerable. Because last time that happened, he got hurt.

Second, he was tall. He looked intimidating and his appearance alone could make any grown man cower in fear. No one really wanted to get close to him for that reason, and he acted like he enjoyed using his appearance to frighten people. But I could see through that. I knew that, deep down, all he wanted was someone who would love him for who he was. Someone who wouldn't run away. Someone who would be there no matter what.

Maybe I could be that person.

I knew that behind that facade, he possessed a glimmering personality. I just had to find a way to break down that wall. I was afraid to admit it, but I had been in love with him for years. He was beautiful in every way, and I longed to get to know him better. The man I adored. Shrek.
