Springfield's Public Library, 1:00 P.M
"There's nothing in this section." I said looking at the yellow newspaper in front of me on the brown table.
I found myself in the public library on Monday, the day I took off because of my injured ankle. Alec and Darwin decided that the next step on our investigation would be going back on history and collecting information about the asylum and the cases of the patients that resided there.
Secretly, I was overjoyed. I wasn't, in any form, ready to go back to that damned place. It's been three days since we broke into the asylum and I still couldn't sleep at night. I still hear the frightening voice in my head. I feel the icy grip on my ankle. I was never terrified like I had been that night.
"Nothing here either." Darwin said rubbing his forehead.
He seemed to have a nasty headache. We all looked tired. We've been looking at pale yellow papers that the writings were almost impossible to read ever since the public library opened. That would be since 7 a.m.
"This isn't working. We can't find anything that would help us." I huffed frustrated.
"We aren't finished yet. There's still three sections left. You can go home if you want. You're not needed here at all, honestly." Alec replied looking at the huge yellow fliers that was in front of him on the table.
"You know, I'm the one with the broken ankle. At least try to act kind." I rolled my eyes and went back to reading the newspaper. The article was about the launching of the asylum and some of the doctors resume that was working there back at the time.
Suddenly, Alec stood up and walked away.
I looked at Darwin beside me to find him looking at Alec with a concerned face.
"Is he okay?"
"He might not show it but he feel responsible."
"Huh?! About what?! My injury you mean?" I asked looking back at where Alec was standing looking for more newspaper.
Darwin shrugged, "He ... He feels like it was his fault that you got hurt."
"I was the one to insist to come with you guys. It was no one's fault."
"I know. Alec thinks so though. You see..."
"I've found it."
Alec came back and I couldn't believe it at first but there was actually a content smirk on his face. I was shocked to discover that the devil was capable of showing any emotion but anger.
"Here." He pointed to the article.
SERIAL KILLER FINALLY CAUGHT AND SENT TO SPRINGFIELDS ASYLUM.
"I don't understand. What's so special about this one? I've read twenty articles like that!"
Alec glared at me, "Of course you don't!"
"Hey, this attitude of you is getting childish to be honest." I glared back at him.
Guilty my arse. I was sure he was happy when I was injured.
"Childish?! Me?! Listen here.."
"If you two don't learn to act like adults and stop these stupid matches I'm going to work alone without the two of you."
Darwin pointed a finger at me and Alec. He actually looked mad. Really mad. I realized I don't want to see mad Darwin again. Believe it or not, the way his eyes were blazing fire was giving me chills.
