Two Wolves

They howl at each other
Day and night
I'm afraid of who will bite

They fight inside me
One growls with envy.
All it has is anger, and regret.
Howls at night with self-pity
It tells me to lie, gives me false pride.

The other howls a song
Sound of Joy and love
It won't hurt anyone
Not even a dove
Gives kindness and truth.
Teaches empathy and faith.

The fight is great
And goes on in all.
All people, big and small.
Who will win?
The one you feed.
That one will win, indeed.
