"Hate to break up this little reunion, but we got a bunch of werewolves trying to kill us so maybe we should get going--" Jace started talking. Luka and Alec walked up to the rest of the group, as Clary cut the blonde off, "Wait, wait, the box. My backpack. I think I left it at the loft." Clary looked at Alec, "No, we've got it. I didn't screw up everything." Luka turned to the shadowhunter and frowned, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder, "You did not screw anything up, Alexander." His tone was firm, "If anything, I did. I allowed them to get the upper hand." Alec looked at the downworlder, grateful. "Let's get out of here then." Simon turned around only to be stopped by Isabelle, "Wait, Simon! Whatever you do, do not make any fast moves." Luka growled, his eyes glowing, he felt his nails grow and his teeth sharpen. His bones cracking as his shifted, changing into a large black wolf.
Luka moved to stand in front of the group, as a warning to lose who surrounded them to back off. Though one wolf, even if he was larger than most, wasn't a match for an entire pack. "This can't be good." Jace pulled out his seraph blade. Luka barked as everyone got their weapons out. "We're surrounded, everyone stay together." Alec order, Luka braked in agreement, "Believe me, I'm not going anywhere." Simon stated. Luka's growls got louder as a door opened, and Theo walked out in his wolf form. The downworlder knew where this would lead. Everyone looked at the large wolf, Jace pushing the others back, "Everyone. get back, That's the alpha leader." Instead of stepping back, Luka stepped forward. He knew how this would likely end, but he wasn't going to let the wolf harm those behind him. Clary, who he had sworn to protect with his life. Simon, the best friend that Luka had grown to see as a brother. Isabelle, a shadowhunter that reminded him of a little girl he knew but could not clearly remember. Jace, who, yes, was a pain in the ass sometimes, yet Luka still found himself caring about, and Alec... the shadowhunter who had managed to make the young downworlder drop his guard easily.
So, even as they called out his name, the wolf did not back down. He circled the alpha, just as the alpha circled him. Then, the fight began. To Luka, it was blur, his desire to protect those behind him took control of his body, pushing him to keep going. Through every slash of claws that cut through his skin, he continued to fight, but when he felt the jaws of the alpha clamp down on his side before he was thrown past those who had been watching, everything became clear again. He felt pain radiate from every part of his body, his adrenaline fading. He began to feel weak, as he tried to stand only for his legs to give out from under him. Slowly, he felt himself shift back into his human form, leaving him helpless. Luka looked up, seeing that he'd held his own pretty well. Theo was covered in gashes, his fur matted with blood. Then his silver eyes moved to his friends. Simon held Clary back, tears running down the redhead's face. Simon, himself looking as though he'd break down any second. Isabelle and Jace still standing by Simon and Clary, watching with sad eyes, while Alec was frozen. Stuck to his spot. There was so much going on in his head, that he couldn't think about what was going on in front of his eyes.
Luka rolled on to his back, as the alpha stalked closer to him, he smiled. He looked through the mist and towards the sky and began to faintly hum a lullaby that he remembered his family would sing to him, to calm him down. Luka waited for death to take, to allow him to meet his former partner in crime, the person he had loved, the person he had hurt, the person who he taken so much from. However, nothing happened. Instead he heard growls and what sounded like more fighting. Moving his head painfully, he watched as a wolf he was all too familiar with defeated the alpha. Luka's eyes narrowed, "Luke..." He coughed and winced. As Theo laid, now dead, at Luke's feet. The pack bowed their heads. "Oh, my god, Luke." Clary said in shock. "What is it? What's happening?" Luka groaned as he forced himself to sit up, leaning against one of the metal containers, his hand pressed against his bleeding side, "H-He's the new Alpha..." The downworlder coughed, everyone's attention back on him. Luke was the first to the younger male's side. Luka looked up at him, "I-I'm sorry... I doubt you Luke... and L-Laila--" Luka coughed violently, his vision blurring, his sense dulling to everything but the pain he felt. Through heavy breathing Luka lent down on Luke's shoulder, "I-I need Magnus... Everything hurts..." Luka's eyes closed, falling into the older wolf's arms.
"Luka!" Clary and Simon. The two soon reached the downworlder's side. Alec refused to look, knowing he had a job to do, he turned to Jace, "Hey, we need to get Clary back to the institute, and stay out of downworlder business" He hated that he was basically leaving Luka behind to die, but he was a shadowhunter. He had a job to do. "Why don't you stay out of it? I'm going to help Clary." Alec grabbed Jace's arm, "We have to report back to our mother." Jace looked at Alec slightly surprised. His parabatai had been so worried about the downworlder, and now that he was here, dying, Alec wanted to just leave? "You and Isabelle can do that." Luke lifted the young body into his arms. "Stay with us Luka." Jace put his blade down, "I'll be fine on my own." Jace pulled Clary away from the boy, "His wounds are deep. Only a warlock's magic can cure an alpha's bite." Clary looked back at her friend, his face twist with pain, blood soaking his clothes and running down his skin, "We have to get him to Magnus."
Jace glance back, before placing a hand on Clary's cheek, "Hey, that's exactly what we're gonna do." Luka groans, curling into Luke's chest. "Clary, we gotta go." Simon said, looking down at the older boy. "We'll use my car." Luke suggested, as they all began to walk away. Alec watched, he felt as though he couldn't breath as he watched Luka being carried away. Isabelle stood beside her brother, "Are you two okay?" She asked, referring to the parabatai. "I don't know." Alec answered. He sounded out of it and Isabelle noticed. She looked up at him and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Luka will be okay. Magnus won't let his brother die." Alec nodded absentmindedly, his eyes never leaving the others as they walked away. Clary looked up at Luke, "We never should have doubted you." She said. "We never should have lied to you." He responded, as Clary and Simon jumped in the back, Luka in between, leaning on Clary's shoulder. Luke in the driver's seat and Jace in passenger. "Luka, Luka hey!" Clary held the unconscious boy's head, "It's okay. We're getting you help. okay? Just, please, don't leave me again. I can't have anyone else die because of me." She held the boy as the car began its journey to the home of Magnus Bane.
