(This takes place before the events of Error and Dust's chapters. But Horror's chapter takes place only a short while before this. This is supposedly about a week after the time where the first chapter, Nightmare's chapter took place.)
Nightmare had created his great castle of darkness within a matter of days. He'd then turned the many remaining survivors who were scattered in his world, into evil Papyrus henchmen. Finally it seemed like Nightmare had a start. This pleased him as he sat upon his dark throne, awaiting his guards and their daily patrol report. However, this wasn't everything.
'I may have guards who do my bidding, but they are not nearly strong enough to assist me in taking over the multiverse. I need monsters who are strong and will obey me. Monsters who COULD achieve what I need.' Nightmare sighed, looking up as the guard entered the hall. They bowed before Nightmare, disclosing to him of the daily report. All seemed quiet, and a daily line of new guards was being made every day. "Good. Now, I have a task that will test your usefulness to me. I shall go in search of a underling who possesses powers to begin my plan. I want you to stay here, and keep everything miserable as usual."
The guard nodded softly, looking nervous. Nightmare stood up, "Good." He then stepped down and turned to go to his quarters. He needed to prepare. He planned to gain at least 5 or more subordinates that could complete this task. For now, he needed one that he could force into submission.
Nightmare needed somewhere secluded, and eventually decided to feel out the negative energy of the universes. He eventually came upon a classic universe, which seemed to possess a lot of energy and negativity from one being. And the AU felt pretty desolate, leading Nightmare to assume that almost/if not than just everyone was gone. This being seemed promising, and Nightmare decided to go ferret around this AU in the hope of finding his first subordinate to be a part of this task.
Nightmare teleported himself to the AU the next day, finding it to be covered in dust and death. "Hmmm, this seems..promising."
The dark one used his powers to sense the being, who seemed to be in Snowdin. He didn't waste his time with stupid dilemmas such as dusty ruins, and he made his way to Snowdin. The usually jolly and happy town lay barren. Dust seemed to mask the whole place in a terrifying aura. This was good. Nightmare walked through, eventually coming upon the house of the two classic skelebrothers, Sans and Papyrus.
Nightmare looked up, and saw a being staring down at him from the upper window. They had a look of hesitation on their face, and Nightmare came to decide that they were a Sans. "There you are." Nightmare mumbled under his breath, smirking. He'd found his first subordinate already.
Nightmare pulled open the door with his tentacles and began to walk up the stairs to the room he was looking for. The dark door loomed at the end of the eerie hall, and Nightmare followed it down. He didn't even hesitate when opening the door, and walked right in.
Sitting at the windowsill was the Sans he'd seen only seconds ago. "Hello. I suppose you don't know who I am." Nightmare smirked with evil intent. The Sans simply turned, looking at Nightmare blankly, "... You're new." Nightmare raised an 'eyebrow', taking a few steps forward in approach, "I said, DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?" Nightmare repeated, his voice growing more firm. He didn't want bullshit. He wanted fear.
The other Sans tilted his head, not in the least showing any emotion. "...are you also a Sans?" Nightmare grew enraged, not having any control of his temper. His tentacles shot out, ensnaring the smaller Sans. "ENOUGH OF YOUR BULLSHIT. OBVIOUSLY YOU DON'T KNOW WHO I AM, SEEING AS YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE AN OUNCE OF FEAR OR RESPECT!" Nightmare shook the smaller violently. They looked almost empty, "... I can see that you're pissed, well... seeing a pissed me seems new." Nightmare shook his head, seeing that obviously this one seemed like a lost cause. He dropped the Sans with a hard thud, shooting tentacles out to kill them. They were hit directly in the chest, their eyes widening softly. They didn't even flinch though as Nightmare pulled his tentacle right back, leaving a large hole in the injured Sans's chest.
"Tsk, pathetic." Nightmare growled, this entire thing having been a waste of time. He teleported out, going to search in Hotland. Maybe he'd find the real energy that he'd searched for there.
The Poor Sans Nightmare Just Ditched's POV
'He just.... left me. It tore me up inside. I'd killed EVERYONE. All for the chance of something new happening. And there it was, there he was. My something new. And now, he was just... gone? Why, why , WHY?! He seemed so mad, and he just attacked. It felt amazing. Different. Just like I wanted.'
Chara crept up behind Sans, having hidden herself earlier, "Sans, he's not worth it. Your genocide was new enough. So just forget about him." She giggled her evil child laughter, twirling her knife around like a toy. It pissed Sans off. He growled lowly, standing up. The giant hole in his chest didn't even seem to affect him.' I just needed to find him. Now.'
"Sans, don't. Like I said, you aren't going to go to him." Sans shook his head getting up, "Fuck off Chara." He began to walk out, and could immediately tell that this Sans was in Hotland. He had a sort of negative aura. It seemed to suck everything in it. It felt special, abnormal. And best of all, it was a change. A change Sans refused to pass up. He began to make his way toward Hotland, Chara following and saying that this was a bad idea. The pair eventually reached a lavastone quarry, and the goopy Sans from before fell into sight.
Chara grabbed at Sans, cussing, "This is a shitty idea. Don't go do this, it'll only fuck things up. This fucktard isn't even worth it." Sans ignored Chara, trying to push forward. "Let go of me Chara. This isn't your choice to make." Chara hissed, her knife falling level at her side. "Sans... I'm warning you. Do as I say, or I'll kill you." Sans's single eye light flicked on at that statement, and he looked at Chara menacingly, "Chara, don't make a choice you'll regret." Chara shook her head. (I know, I know. Chara is supposed to be a they. Ehh, well I made them a girl in this. Because why not?)
Sans took a step forward, Chara raising her knife, "Sans..." Sans murmured softly, "Kid, out of the way." Chara shook her head again, narrowing her eyes. "Sans, this is your last chance. Move." Chara sighed, her weapon slashing down. Sans dodged, "Your funeral."
Nightmare in 3rd Person POV (again)
Nightmare heard a large clang of metal and bone, and turned around in surprise. It was the Sans from earlier fighting... a Chara? This was sudden. Nightmare hadn't once sensed a Chara in this AU. But more importantly, how was this happening?! Nightmare knew he'd definitely impaled that Sans, earlier, and the giant hole was even still there as the antagonist fought. That blow should be fatal, and here this Sans was fighting and winning against a CHARA with it.
"Hey!" Nightmare called, the Chara turning. Bad choice. Nightmare stepped back in surprise, as the Sans lept onto Chara. They beat her skull in, tearing out her eyes and crushing her nose and lips. It was utterly grotesque. However, Nightmare also felt a rush of negative energy pulse through himself, filling him with power. " Hell yes."
The Sans stood up over his kill, looking to Nightmare, his eyes dead and dark. Nightmare approached, looking down at Chara's corpse. This was impressive. "Damn." Nightmare looked over to Sans, "I want to know your name, since you're going to be acting as my first subordinate."
"My name? My name is..... Killer."
