What Happened

I woke up with the sunlight shining on my face. I squinted for a moment so my eyes could adjust to the bright light. "What happened?" I questioned. Silence. "Xavier?" I shouted, still no answer. 'Fuck.' I thought. I looked around my surroundings. I wasn't in the car anymore and Xavier was nowhere to be found. I felt something hot sliding down my face. I hadn't realized that I was crying until I felt my face. I looked down at my legs only to see that my leg had been badly broken and the other was bruised. I gently felt my head to see if there might have been any blood. There was. I slowly got up letting out an earth-shattering scream at the pain in my leg. Despite the pain, I kept trying to look for Xavier. "Xavier?! Xavier where are you?!" I shouted limping around the area. I heard a soft groan and my head snapped towards the car, which was turned upside down. "Xavier!" I sat beside the car where Xavier was still trapped inside. "Are you okay? Can you get out?" I asked. His eyes snapped open as he let out a painful growl. I pulled a pocket knife out of my waistband and cut his seatbelt off. He landed on his arm and let out another growl. "Sorry," I said as I pulled him out of the car and sat him up against a tree. I checked him over for any wounds. He had a fractured wrist, a huge piece of metal stuck in his side, and a gash above his right eyebrow. I took a mental note of both of our wounds before thinking of a way for us to get help. "My phone!" I yelled happily as I remembered I had my phone. I pulled it out of my back pocket and tried to turn it on. Dead. "Fuck! What the HELL?!" I shouted. "Chill out Mutt," Xavier said, his normal cocky smirk plastered on his face. I shot him a deadly glare. "What do you mean chill out?! We are stuck in the middle of nowhere and were just in a fucking crash! I don't know if or when we'll get help! And you're telling me to chill out!" I shouted at him standing up only to let out another earth-shattering cry. Xavier gave me a look before looking down at my ripped pants. Noticing that I was covered in blood. "Sit." He said in a stern voice. "What?" I asked looking at him dumbfounded. "Sit," He said more sternly and I submitted to him, obeying his command I sat down. He pulled out his phone which, thank god, wasn't dead. He called 911. "They'll be here soon." He said and I nodded, my teeth chattering and my body shaking violently from the blood loss. Xavier noticed and he pulled me into his chest. He wrapped his arms around me giving my slight warmth. "W-what happened?" I questioned trying to get closer to him. "I'm not sure. The last thing I remember was glancing over at you then everything went black. It might've been my fault or someone else's." He shrugged. I let out a soft sigh as I nuzzled into his chest. I felt him relax a bit. A small smile formed onto my lips. After a while of silence, I heard the faint sound of sirens. "Xavier," I shook him gently to wake him up. He sat up quickly aiming his gun towards my head. "Woah, Woah, Woah! Chill! I hear sirens!" I said quickly. He lowered the gun and stood up. "I'll go wave them over. You stay here," He said as he walked over to the road. I tried to move to grab our things but quickly stopped at the excruciating pain in my leg. After a few seconds the sirens got louder and closer. Soon they were right in front of me. I was examined by a paramedic then Xavier was. We were both taken to the hospital for further examination. My leg had been broken in two different places and my left wrist was fractured. "Now, you need to stay off of that leg for at least two weeks dear," The nurse had told me. I didn't really comprehend what she said because of the pain meds they had given me and because of my concussion. I just nodded. "Get some sleep, you'll feel a little better if you do," she said. I closed my eyes and went to sleep.

I found out later that Xavier was fine. He had fractured his wrist and had a mild concussion. They were able to remove the huge piece of metal that was in his side with no complications. The cut on his eyebrow left a sexy scar. He pulled off the 'eyebrow slit' look pretty well. I had to stay in the hospital for a while, but Sarah came to visit me. She was the only one, other than Xavier of course. After I got out I was back to doing my rounds and threatening to hurt people if they didn't cooperate. I had picked that up from Xavier. I hadn't realized how much time I had been spending with him until Birdie, his sister, confronted me. "Why are you spending so much time with Xavier? Don't you have better things to do than to be a little pest?" She said to me as I was counting the money I had gotten that day. "I'm just doing my job. Like you should be doing. And it's not my fault he's around me so much," I said. A bit of anger showing in my voice. "Don't you like, like him or something? Is that why you're always hanging out with him? You're such a fucking weirdo," She said. I rolled my eyes. Truth is, I didn't really like him as much as I used to. I just looked at him as a colleague now. "I don't like him, Birdie. Can you fuck off now? Like I said, I'm trying to do my job." She scoffed, but left me alone. I finished what I was doing and split the money. Half going to me and the other half I had placed on Xavier's desk. I decided it would be best if I went and stayed with Sarah, as both Alex and Ella were pissed at me for not getting them what they wanted sooner. I didn't sleep well that night.
