12:25pmAugust's P.O.V
"Thank you." I replied, to Grayson holding the door open for me.
It would've been pretty funny if we ended up going to Starbucks, but instead, we agreed on Panera bread.
He led me over to a booth by the window, I took a seat.
"I'm gonna go order, what did you want?" He kindly asks.
"Umm...I'll just have avocado toast with a Caesar salad." I smiled.
He nodded.
"I was gonna get avocado toast too," he laughed, before making his way over to the registers.
I felt all kiddy inside by the fact that we basically ordered the same thing. It gave me an extra bit of hope that this might be able to turn into something more. Which is so stupid, but I'm looking for any sort of signs right now. I really like him...and I don't remember a time I chased after a guy, and had him actually want to talk to me.
I occasionally went on my phone, continuously scrolling through my settings to make it look like I was busy. Something I did a lot in public to avoid myself looking like a loner, or a total weirdo. Although this time, I was actually with someone.
Right when I decided to turn my head to see if he was done ordering, I saw him approaching the table with a trey in his hand.
"Hey," he smiled. Then setting the trey down.
"I forgot to ask what you wanted to drink so I just got you a water, is that okay?"
"Yeah that's fine, I would've chosen it anyway." I laughed, grabbing my salad and toast.
In my head I was having a fit with myself, I was trying to be more social, like text me would, but it was just too hard. Whenever words would leave my mouth they'd be lame, and boring. Much like what I just said. But I probably am just overthinking it, considering I'm having lunch with such a terrific guy.
For a while it was quiet, the only sounds to be heard was our chewing, and the ambiance of the restaurant. I couldn't tell if he was waiting for me to speak, or he just didn't want to talk. And I was afraid to start up a conversation, considering I'm definitely not an expert at that.
"So.." he cleared his throat. He set his food down and wiped his mouth with a napkin, before resting his hands on his thighs.
"How's the food?" He asked.
"Good, good." I nodded.
He nodded in response. It looked like he wanted to say something, but kept holding it off. Especially because his question seemed like a filler, just some small talk before he says what's been on his mind.
"I-um, I just wanted to say that...I'm really glad I'm here with you right now. I know you've been pretty busy and that's why you couldn't hang out before,"
Busy. Which also meant way too nervous to see you in person again.
"-but thank you for taking the time to."
