"What're we watching them?" Magnus asked. Their monthly movie night had become a tradition, Alec and Magnus offered up their apartment to host, and every month someone different would pick the movie, they'd all take it in turns. It was all somewhat predictable though. Simon always went sci-fi, Alec would give his choice to Magnus as he could barely name a single movie, Magnus would pick a supposed 'classic', Jace went action, Izzy had new a new found love of comedy, Clary always went Rom-com and Luke and Maia weren't consistent in turning up and had not expressed much preference. It was Clary's turn to choose today.
"Bridget Jones!" She exclaimed. Simon agreed that it was a great choice and Alec had taken to reading the plot synopsis before making an unimpressed sound. "Why?" He asked.
"Okay, a, it's a great film and b, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant are hot," she replied.
"Hey!" Jace added.
"But obviously not as hot as you," she assured, "just give it a chance, Lightwood."
Everyone walked into the living room and took their seats, Clary, Jace and Izzy took their usual seat on the largest sofa, Simon slumped into the beanbag on the floor and Maia sat in the arm chair. Alec and Magnus claimed their usual sofa. Magnus had his upper back resting on the arm as he half sat, half lay across the seat. Alec lay on his front, half next to and half on top of Magnus, resting one hand on his chest and the other behind his back and nuzzling his head into the warlocks neck. Magnus clicked his fingers lazily, filling bowls with popcorn, dimming the lights and making a blanket pull over him and Alec. Clary pressed play and the movie began. It took about five minutes for Alec to completely loose focus on the movie itself, he ran has hand slowly down Magnus's chest and then back up again, occasionally drawing outlines of shapes with his fingers or tapping drumming patterns. Magnus had also switched off pretty quickly, using the hand that was behind Alec to fiddle with his hair and his other arm to occasionally feed him popcorn. Alec didn't really give a shit if the movie was awful, because although he wouldn't often admit it, he loved spending time in the company of his friends, family and boyfriend, although he was more vocal about his love of spending time with Magnus. Magnus turned his head slightly and looked at Alec, his blinks were getting slowly longer and his breathing was becoming heavier. He debated whether or not to remind Alec not to fall asleep, but decided against it, placing a kiss to his forehead instead. Alec had is eyes closed but smiled at the gesture, nuzzling back into Magnus's neck as the warlock rested his head on top of the Shadowhunters.
Forty minutes, that's how long it had taken the pair of them to fall asleep, well Alec had actually fallen asleep after 20 and his soft little snores had assisted in Magnus's dozing off. Izzy was the first to notice and couldn't help but smile at them, they were both pretty adorable when they were asleep. She tapped Clary on the arm and pointed over to them, the red head chuckled softly and stifled a small 'aw,' Jace turned and looked at his parabatai cuddling into his boyfriend, Alec had undergone some serious character development since he'd met Magnus. "We gonna wake them of what?" He asked. Simon and Maia swivelled and now all eyes were on the pair. "No," Izzy said, "let's just leave them, can't imagine they'll be too upset about missing the movie."
They eventually made it to the end and even Jace and Maia admitted that they'd enjoyed it and would have to watch the sequels next time. Magnus slowly opened his eyes and looked around at everyone else, "how long?" He asked.
"I noticed about forty minutes in," Izzy replied. "Hm, not so bad."
Him and Alec had a track record of not staying awake during movies, infact Alec hadn't successfully made it through one.
"Well I don't know about everyone who isn't Alec or Magnus, but I'm exhausted," Maia said. Agreements were met to her statement and everyone thanked Magnus, Alec was still asleep, and eventually made their way out. Magnus flicked his wrist to close the door behind them, not keen on the idea of standing up and disturbing Alec, although he'd have to soon. Magnus kissed Alec's forehead. Nothing. He then kissed his cheek, which also failed to wake the Shadowhunter. He kissed his nose and Alec's eyes gently flittered open, he sat up slightly and looked around, "how long has everyone been gone for?" He asked, drearily.
"Oh only about five minutes, not long."
"Oh. And how long did it take me to fall asleep?"
"About twenty minutes, don't worry, I did aswell," Magnus reassured.
"Okay, well I'm really tired so I think I'm gonna go to bed, you coming?"
Magnus nodded, and kissed Alec on the lips before standing up and using magic to assist in putting all the bowls away. When he was finished he walked into their bedroom to see Alec already drifting off. He slipped into bed next to him, pulled the covers up and wrapped his arms loosely around him. "Goodnight, Alexander," he said, barely audible.
"Goodnight," Alec said sleepily, "I love you."
"I love you too."
