It'd been Alec's idea initially. On only their second date, Magnus had taken them to Japan, a gesture that Izzy assured Alec meant he was 'a keeper.'
They'd wandered the streets of Tokyo, Alec finding himself constantly impressed by everything the crazy city had to offer. It was late, they had been walking back to a hotel Magnus had booked with a balcony view that he ensured was ' exquisite'. It was. They'd spent the day shopping and Alec had brought Magnus an omamori charm, to bring him luck and protection. He'd brought it at one of the stalls whilst Magnus had his attention focused elsewhere and shoved it into a bag to give it to him later.
"What on earth is that?" Alec had asked upon seeing the flash. Two mundanes appeared from the small box and received what looked to be a slip of paper, smiling and walking away.
"It's a photo booth, Alexander. Haven't you ever seen one before?" Magnus responded.
Alec shook his head but it didn't exactly take much effort to work out the premise.
"Can we take photos?" He asked. Magnus smiled. Alec, so far, has been rather submissive all day so to hear him make a request filled Magnus witch confidence that maybe he was actually enjoying himself. "Why of course," Magnus said, indicating for Alec to take a seat in the booth before sliding in next to him.
"Right, what do we do?" Alec asked. Magnus slid the appropriate amount of money into the coin slot and the screen lit up, with Alec and Magnus captured by the camera and a cartoon panda jumping around in the bottom left corner.
"Do you want to strike a pose?" Magnus asked. Alec smiled and reached for Magnus's wrist, removing one of his two identical black bead bracelets. He slid it onto his wrist and smiled at the warlock. "Here, now we're matching."
Magnus edged himself to the end of the bench and leant forward slightly, smiling at the camera. Alec decided to rest his folded arms on Magnus's shoulders, bracelet on show, and pouted at the screen. A countdown appeared before the flash went off, immortalising the moment. "How many photos do we get?" Alec asked.
"Four, ready for number two?" Alec nodded in response. Magnus leaned back so he was level with Alec on the bench. "Nope," Magnus said, "this won't do, you're too tall. Lean down slightly so I look taller than you." Alec laughed and altered his posture so that he appeared shorter than the warlock. The two men smiled and Alec leaned his head towards Magnus's. The same countdown and flash signified that the photo was taken.
For the next photo, Alec placed his arms onto Magnus's right shoulder, smiling at the contact between them. They both smiled facing the camera but just before the countdown finished, Alec turned his head so instead his wide smile and eyes were straight on Magnus instead of the camera, and he stared lovingly at his new boyfriend. Not that they'd really established any form of title yet.
"Okay, one more," Magnus said. Alec removed his hands from Magnus's shoulder and before he could think of a next pose, Magnus warped his arms around Alec, locking him in the position he was in. The warlock leant his head so his face was resting on the Shadowhunters shoulder and the two men beamed at the camera for a final time. After the photo had been taken, Alec was reluctant for Magnus to remove his arms from him, and the warlock found himself equally reluctant to do so. Alec turned his head towards Magnus who still had him in his arms and kissed his forehead gently. Magnus smiled again, nuzzling further into Alec's shoulder. The moment only lasted a few seconds before the two of them clambered out the photo-both to recurve their pictures. Two copies of the four pictures printed, both Alec and Magnus collecting one each. Alec smiled at the photos, "these are our first pictures together," he said quietly. Magnus looked up at him lovingly, "Yeah, they are." They both slid the photos into their bags and smiled at each other once more. Alec placed a hand on Magnus's cheek before instinctively leaning in for a kiss, their third kiss. Alec hoped that there would be many more.Alec smiled at the memory of it as he stared at the photos that had been placed on the mirror of his office ever since. The first of many photos he had with his husband.
