Drunkenly rosy cheeks
dusted red over a freckled face.
Tan skin set aglow
from Sol's setting chariot-

Sand for our knotted hair digs itself into our broken nails

ad our oh-so chapped lips collide
in a sea-salt laced kiss.

I was Venus and you were
my Mars.

Vulcan's net became out sunset.
A wicked spin - our bliss contorted into
our reality.
The waves augmented by our dreams
lap at our feet and the seagull
shrieks became our lives background music.
Yet when I open my eyes
you are gone.
The summer was over and
here I stand in front of dead leaves littering the sidewalk
