Ryan
i toss my clothes onto my desk and plug my phone in. i spot the small frame of a picture on my nightstand. i smile. it's the picture of Jack and i. god i love that picture.
"whatcha doing?" i hear jill ask. we love together now. she convinced me. it's been really fun though. we have sleepovers in each other's rooms, even though were like, across the hall from each other.
"i was just getting ready for bed." i say. she gives me a look.
"that. isn't getting ready for bed." she says and points to the picture.
"i like it." i say. she rolls her eyes.
"ryan, call him." jill urged, sitting on my bed.
"no, jill. i told him to forget about me. to just forget about everything. do you know how stupid i'd look if i just called him and told him i needed him?" i ask question. she sighs
"you wouldn't look stupid. i'm sure he's waiting for your call." she says.
"i'm not calling him. i'd die first before i put myself through that again." i say, plopping myself onto my bed. or, i'd die trying.Jack
"you think she'll call?" skate asks, sitting next to me on the couch. i shake my head.
"she virtually hated me, when we left." i say.
"that was almost a year ago." he says.
"it's ryan. i may of not known her for long, but i know she doesn't forget things. trust me." i say with a small laugh.
"you call her then. i'm sure she misses you. you guys did have something during the vacation."
"yea but, i was an ass to her." i say. he shrugs.
"she forgives very easily, Jack. so either try, or don't and live miserably. you choice." he gets up and walks out of the living room. i pick up my phone. god this might kill us both. i go to her contact and click on the call icon. here goes nothing.Ryan
"i'm just saying, maybe he's sitting there, all in his feels-" jill gets cut off by my phone ringing. i grab it and look at the contact. my numbers aren't saved because i got a new phone. i swipe and put it on speaker.
"hello?" i question.
"ryan." i hear jack's voice on the end. i tap the phone and immediately hang up.
"ryan!" jill exclaims, jumping up.
"that was your chance! it was fate!" she exclaims
"it was a coincidence." i say.
"liar. you know it was fate. why'd you hang up? oh my god your insane." she says.
"jillian." i say
"ryan." we stare at each other for a second.
"call him back. now. if you don't, i'll invite him over." she says. i sigh. she walks out of my room, closing the door. i flip the door off. i hate when she's right. i grab my phone and click on the number. it calls it back. i put it on speaker and pick at my shorts.
"hello." he answers. i take a deep breath.
"hey." i say.
"hey." he says. god this is awkward.
"how are you?" i ask.
"i'm good. how are you?" he asks.
"okay." i say. we sit in silence for a minute.
"i'm sorry." we both say at the same time. i laugh softly.
"i was such a bitch when we lasted talked. i really should've been nicer." i say. he laughs
"no. if anything you should've slapped me or some shit." he says. i smile. silence again
"i messed up with you, ryan. big time." he says. i sigh
"and don't protest. i just wanna explain myself." he says. he deserves it. kinda.
"okay." i say.
"i'm a mess with out you. we fought all the time but it kept me in line. kinda." he says. i laugh.
"i changed. a lot. and i miss you. a lot." he says.
"i was an asshole to you. i mistreated you badly and played with your heart. and you didn't deserve that." he says.
"i miss you too. but, you really did hurt me." i say.
"i know. and again, i'm sorry." he says. i groan internally and close my eyes. don't do this again ryan. don't. it's just gonna end badly. again. you don't need him.
"it's okay. really, Jack." i mentally smack myself. why am i the way i am? why do i do this to myself? why?
