Is This Goodbye?

Green eyes shown dimly with unshed tears, the singer felt her bottom lip tremble and did nothing to prevent it. She hoped she'd never have to face this day but she does. The beeping machines and all the other sounds in the room became a blur, she could just barely see the movement of blues and greens and a purple as the people around her rushed to save her girlfriends life. Everything came back to her as the machine displaying her lovers heart rate sped up to an alarming rate.

"Y/N stop we're gonna get caught." Lauren giggled as Y/N pushed her against the table and then lifted her up onto it. The pairs giggling subsided as their lips connected in a soft kiss, there was no rush or heat needed. The singer let a smile appear as her lovers lips caressed hers, she felt her whole body melt into Y/Ns and in the moment she could have sworn she'd never felt so at peace in her life, she'd never felt so loved. 

They broke the kiss and rested their foreheads against each other and looked into each others eyes. Green eyes stared into Y/E/C eyes and saw the entire universe. the flecks of colour mixing in made it seem like she was staring at the stars. She could see Y/Ns soul and her own, blended together to make one person. At least that's how she felt at times, times like now. There was nothing that could changer her mood. 

A smooth skinned hand came up and rested on her cheek and The Cuban couldn't help but melt into the touch, her head moving on its own accord to lean farther into the touch. Lauren let her eyes slip shut as she welcomed the touch and opened them again to see the beautiful smiling face or her girlfriend looking right back at her with the same amount of affection and love. 

"Why can't we always stay like this? Where it's just the two of us in this moment?" The usually raspy voice was now but a quiet whisper, afraid that allowing her voice to be any louder would make the peaceful moment between the two disappear. 

"My love, if we stayed in this moment we'd never get to experience any others which may be far more memorable and just for the two of us. And even without a special moment like this, it will always be you and I. Without you I feel like I'm only one half of a whole. There will never not be a you and I because fate won't allow us to be separated now we have each other." Y/n spoke confidently but softly also afraid the moment will be lost if she speaks any louder. She continued to stroke her thumb across her girlfriend's cheek and let her eyes wander all over her face.

Y/n could sit and admire Lauren's face forever. From the arch of her brows, the freckles scattered lightly across her cheeks and nose, the smooth pale skin and the sweet pink lips. The way her nose scrunches up as she smiles adorably, they way her eyes becomes that little bit brighter when shes happy, The look of innocence that adorns her face as she watches the lion king with Nala tucked up in her arms. She just simply cannot get enough of the singer. 

"You're right, but that doesn't mean I won't be selfish and hold onto this one for a while longer." The cuban leaned forward and took her loves lips between hers again, feeling that familiar warmth spread through her as she did so. 

"I expect nothing less from you darling." The chuckle that arose from Y/Ns throat made the singer explode from the inside.

Lauren watched helplessly and with agony burrowing its way out of her chest. The memory seemed bittersweet right now. She felt fate was not going to ensure that stayed together. She allowed more tears to fall as she heard the hospital staff shout clear as they tried to shock some life back into the dying woman. The singer could do nothing but stand by and watch as her love started to slip away from her. 

They were able to remove the bullet from her chest, Why was Y/N dying? It made no sense to the famous singer. A constant of loud sobs filled the hospital corridors, loud enough they could be heard for miles. 

"Come on baby, wake up. you gotta get through this, you have to. You and I forever right? you said so yourself. Don't leave me now." Lauren's voice was broken and almost defeated. She could feel like she was only half of a Whole at this moment.

The heart rate monitor started a long continuous beep. The unmistakable sound that the heart has stopped beating. The singer felt her body begin to shut down. 

"NOOOOOOOO!" Her scream alerted everyone nearby but she didn't care. She was not aware she was moving until she pushed through the doors and shoved the doctors and nurses out of the way, ignoring them shouting at her and yelling at her. 

"no no no, come on babygirl wake up. please mi amor open your eyes and look at me." The singer lifted the lifeless hand to her chest right above her heart. "My heart beats for you. Please baby wake up. Don't leave me...." Lauren dropped her head to Y/Ns chest and sobbed hard.

"I need you Y/N. I love you". Lauren closed her eyes and refused to move. The staff tried to pry her off of the lifeless woman on the bed but the singer was stubborn and refused to let go. 

Suddenly, she felt her head move up and then down. She heard the familiar sound she feel asleep to each night, Y/Ns heartbeat. At the same time, the monitor started beating again. Everyone was shocked. It's rare that someone who has been declared dead for 10 minutes suddenly starts to breathe again. 

"Baby? oh my god Y/N! I... I thought I lost you." Fresh tears streamed down the singers cheeks but this time, tears of joy. 

Y/Ns eyes opened slowly and looked right at their other halves, tears pooling in them making them glisten. The hand resting against Lauren's chest moved up to gently wipe away the tears and the action brought a small smile to both of their faces. The cuban singer brought her lips forward to Y/Ns for a longing yet soft kiss, a kiss that conveyed all the unspoken emotions and feelings. 

The pair pulled away and rested their foreheads against each other focusing solely on each other.

"I need you too. I love you so much Lo, I'm not going anywhere. Besides, I did promise you forever didn't I?"
