*1 year later*

Wiping the sweat off of her forehead, Y/N wiped down the tables in the diner she worked in. It wasn't the best but it kept a roof over her head and food in her stomach.

Without Lauren she struggled, she struggled a lot. She felt cold, having no arms around her. She felt bored, not having her to laugh with. She felt alone, not having her heartbeat out her to sleep.

It was 3am and was just about to leave. A bar fight is never a good way to end a day. Blood and beer and food everywhere.

Having finished cleaning up and turning in her apron, Y/N left the diner, the owner locking up shortly after she left.

The walk home was at least an hour away and this part of the neighbourhood wasn't the friendliest. Holding back her fear she started to walk.

About ten minutes into the walk she stopped. She heard crying in a nearby alleyway. She recognised this alley. It was the one she waited in for thirty minutes after leaving Lauren's home.

She never got over Lauren. She understood Lauren's intentions but that didn't mean they worked. Not having Lauren killed her. She wanted to die without her. She threw things around, she cried for days and nights. Her heart and chest aching from missing her. She just wanted her Lauren back.

Pushing the memory of that night to the back of her mind, Y/N walked into the dark Alley. The crying got louder every step she took and when she looked behind the dumpster she once hid behind, she couldn't contain her gasp of shock.

Lauren.

The raven haired beauty was sat there, eyes swollen and red, her breathing laboured, she was a mess. She looked like she hadn't slept for days. Months. She was wearing one of Y/N's shirts and hoodies.

Y/N didn't know what to do. Should she leave Lauren alone? She wanted to keep space between them because she believed she was Hurting her. On the other hand Y/N wanted to stay, to sit with Lauren or take her home and talk to her.

She approached her softly and slowly.

"Lauren? What are you doing out here?" At the familiar voice, Lauren snapped her head up.

Y/N had to contain her gasp and tears. Lauren was truly a mess. She was thinner, tired and completely broken. Just as Y/N was.

Lauren stood up quickly and wiped her eyes.

"Y...Y/N is that you? What are you doing here?" Even her voice was broken. Defeated.

"I was walking home and heard crying, I came to see who it was and if they needed help. Why are you out here?" Y/N had to restrain herself from hugging the taller woman afraid that she'd be pushing her.

"I've... Ive been... been looking for you. I can't believe I made that mistake. I... I never meant... for any o-of this to happen. I can't be without you. I need you." Y/N took off her coat and put it around Lauren, her sobs breaking her words and causing her to breathe harshly.

Upon realising Lauren was having a panic attack Y/N threw all caution to the wind. She stepped forward and wrapped Lauren in her arms, holding her tightly and securely. She moved Lauren's head to rest above her heart knowing the beating would soothe her and whispered sweet nothings into her hair.

The two women remained in that position for over twenty minutes. Lauren had calmed down but neither wanted to let go.

"Let's go home huh?" Y/N picked Lauren up bridal style and walked them back to Lauren's apartment. She took her spare key out of her pocket and opened the door.

Lauren still had a tight grip on the younger woman and it got even tighter when she tried to put her down on the bed. Lauren sobbed again.

"Shhh, shhh it's okay I'm here. I'm here." Y/N cried, she cried as Lauren cried. They could both feel each other's pain and how broken they were.

Knowing she couldn't leave Lauren alone like this, Y/N manoeuvred them both around so she could get them both out of their clothes and into pjs. To make Lauren more comfortable, she put her in a pair of her own clothes she left behind.

Going to bed with Lauren still stuck to her, she knew they'd have to talk in the morning.

For the first time in a year, both girls felt at home again.

*the next morning*

Lauren woke up feelings a weight on top of her. She panicked for a second before the events of last night caught up to her. It was Y/N, she stayed.

Tracing her finger across her loves face she caused her to wake up.

Beautiful eyes fluttered open and stared up at Lauren, the same innocence and love she remembered boring into her eyes.

"Good morning. Did you sleep okay?" Lauren could only nod at her words.

"Please don't leave again." The broken whisper tore Y/N's Heart into more pieces.

"Lauren. Do you really Want me to stay? If not I can go and you can get space again." Y/N asked Lauren softly as to not get the woman anymore upset.

"Please don't go. Stay. Please stay. I'm not okay without you. I can't sleep. I can't eat. I can't do anything without you. I made a mistake that night. If I hadn't pushed you and just cuddled you we'd have been fine. I ruined it. I thought that when you left, that was goodbye. I've looked all over for you. I kept looking. I never gave up I didn't want to leave us." Green eyes started to water recalling the night she made her love leave.

"No it's not your fault. I should have talked to you instead of just wanting to cuddle. I wanted to come back so many times but didn't think you'd want me here. It's been so hard without you." Both women were crying.

"Can you forgive me?" Lauren looked up at
Y/N hopefully.

"I will always forgive you, can you forgive me?"

"You did nothing wrong! But if it makes you feel better I'll forgive you." Lauren held Y/Ns face in her hands and held eye contact.

"Will we be okay?" Y/N asked, her voice soft and afraid.

"In time yes, we'll be okay" Lauren moved a strand of hair out of her loves face. "Do I still have my best friend and girlfriend?" Looking down she was afraid of the answer.

"I never left. I never stopped being of those things to you Laur. I'll never stop being either of those things." Placing a kiss on Lauren's cheek she smiled at her.

Lauren smiled back down to Y/N.

Sure things were going to be different but with time they'd be back to how they were and that's all that mattered to them.
