King Odo was at his throne, he barely walked away from it for the past month. His appetite was non existent, many of his most valuable warriors were now gone, his people were starving.
The Wise Men, a group formed by the eldest man of the kingdom stud around him, worry was evident in their wrinkled faces full of long white hair as beards.
"His majesty, the kingdom is at distress, if we continue this war we will all die, perhaps you want to reconsider."
"The Kingdom of Kalon, has never surrendered."
"The gods have said it my lord, this war must be avoided, not conquered."
King Odo knew The Wise Men were right, the gods have never been wrong, proof of it was the one month long battle that has taken a troll on is army, his people and himself.
"Alright, let's talk to that old man, send the messenger in the fastest horse."
King Odo paced anxiously in the throne room, his hands crossed with fists closed in his back. The past hour felt longer than the month of misery they had just endured. Two knocks against the thick wooden door echoed in the large throne room.
"Come in." King Odo shouted.
"My lord the messenger has returned, he brings correspondence from King James of Esparcia." One of the soldiers that guarded the room said handing the scroll of paper to Neoh, the oldest of The Wise Men.
Neoh begun reading, clearing his throat first.
"It is with great hope and respect that that I write this letter, our warriors are tired and wounded, finalize this war seems like the best choice for both kingdoms.
The kingdom of Esparcia seeks unlimited and non discontinued fulfillment of textiles and spices, which is known to be abundant in the kingdom of Kalon unlike my land where those are scarce.
The only guarantee that this treaty will be respected I'm willing to accept is the marriage of our heirs. This union will not only guarantee prosperity for Esparcia but to Kalon as well. An heir from this marriage will result in a very powerful monarch that will peacefully untie our lands.
I must also mention that the battle field will remain active until our heirs say their wedding vows and are declared man and wife.
