I smile, we were gathered around the dining room table at Charlie's house; my mind remembering the first time I met my adorable husband, the cute look of hatred in his hazel eyes as orange juice rolled down his chin. 

"Babe, are you even listening?" Danny murmurs in my ear, snapping me back to the present. 
"Um yeah!" I say, blushing slightly at his brilliant smile.
"No you weren't." He snickers, pressing a sweet kiss to my cheek.
"Okay fine, I wasn't listening!"
"Since Aron wasn't listening let's go through this again." Danny announces to our friends, I look over at George and Jorel, another flash of the first day of my second chance at life tugs at the corner of my mouth as I smile over at them.
"Okay, so we were saying, Arrow and Jewel just flew in for New Year's from New York. Scar, Ava, Roman are on holiday break. Holiday and Jack both have baby sitters. What are we gonna do for New Year's with Arry and Jewel? This is the first time they've been home in a decade! We gotta do something big!" Jorel chirps excitedly. 
"Belly still likes lighting shit on fire. I say we have a firework show and then let Jewel cook us supper." Dylan interjects, and his husband nods his head, clearly excited to see their not so little girl again.
"Sounds good to me!" Charlie agrees, as does George and Jorel. 
"I think that would be the best thing to do." I answer, looking at Danny for his confirmation and he smiles, nodding happily.

"Dad stop!" Arrow squeals, twisting away from Matt's bear hug.
"But 'Belly! You're pregnant! I'm gonna be a grandpa!" Dylan exclaims, using his larger stature to pick the young pregnant woman up.
"So who's the lucky man?" Danny gushes, petting her tummy with a huge smile on his face. Oh great, here we go again with the baby fever! 
"His name is Kyler, we actually went to high school together back in the day. We met up at the reunion this year and bam! Instant baby! But Dad he treats me so good!" 
"I make sure of that." Jewel says coldly, her calm demeanor was icy as ever. 
"That's my girl, looking out for her younger cousin." George says, slightly smiling as he pats Jewel on the back, nearly knocking the petite young woman to the ground.
"Enough about me! Let's get these fireworks off the ground!" Arrow exclaims, her round belly poking out from her shirt as her father sets her back on her feet.
"UNDEAD!" She screams, lighting off the first black cat.
"UNDEAD!" We all chorus after her, smiling as the fireworks light up the LA skyline with color and sparkles.

"Hey Aron?" Scar says softly, walking into the living room where I was packing up the last of the Christmas decorations.
"Yes?" I answer, looking over my shoulder at the small teen behind me.
"I need to talk to you about something. I don't want you to tell Dad..." She replies, sinking down to the sofa with a slight tint of pink in her cheeks.
"What is it Scar?" I ask, sitting down next to her, worry biting at my heart, something I still hadn't gotten used to as a step dad.
"I think I'm in love with Ava."
