I am in line for weight checks. I usually fight in the welterweight division. My goal was to be at the top of the weight class so I don't have to fight with people 10 pounds heavier than me. I was 119 pounds so I am welterweight in the teens division and I will be at the top of my weight class. They gave me my wrist band and my clearance cards. I listened to the super boring rules and then they called for all wrestlers to report to their mat. I was at Mat 6 the welterweight mat and of course I was the only girl. The boys were pointing and laughing and my coach made a joke. "That was me when I was their age but Skye trust me they won't be laughing then you throw them into the ground and maybe break one of their fragile bones." Then he wished me good luck. I always feel as if I have to urinate really badly when I'm waiting for them to call my name. Then they said it. Skye Waters and Jackson Jacks please report to the center of mat 6. This kid was bigger than me and he was a boy. I heard my coach saying "don't let him underestimate you." Then I had Karen and Mines song playing inside of my head. The referee said "shake hands." "Back up." Okay now "Fight." The kid didn't hesitate he charged at me and grabbed my wrists. He was tugging me left and right. I swooped under his left arm loosening his grip eventually getting my arms free. I swung to the his back when I got the chance and tripped him to the ground. I flattened him out using the "pancake" technique. He was bucking and rolling trying to flip me off. I lost control and he caught me in an arm bar. I had to make more decisions, I could tap and lose Nationals, I could take a chance and do The Skye flip and risk him breaking my arm. It was my last time wrestling so I might as well take the chance. I made myself just enough room to where I could prop up on my knees. I wrapped my legs around his waist and took three deep breathes them I through him. If he didn't let go of my arm I was staying up here and my arm was going down there. I made one last nudge and he let go. I hurried and did a Kimora bending his arm far enough that he tapped. Now I was in running for 1st I had one more fight. Now instead of laughing all of those boys are praying that their name doesn't get called to go against me and it feels pretty good. My mom ran to me and squeezed the heck out of my very sore body. Then my coaches came and congratulated me. Everyone was so happy. I just wanted to win the last fight of today my final fight of my whole life. I have to win and be awesome. Then finally Marcus is standing in the back of the room. I ran to him and jumped in his arms like it was a fairytale. "Marcus I did it." He said "I never doubted you, ever." Then we hugged. I drank a whole Gatorade used the bathroom and came back. I chilled in Marcuses arms and then they called my name. I looked back at him and my mom. My mom mouthed good luck and Marcus kissed me. He said "Skye do it for Karen."
