Ino Hanabusa is a mentally sick boy,who falls in love with Kaoru Hitachiin after a long time of stalking him. But when Kaoru confronts Ino, things slowly start to take a turn for the blond.
After seeing Haruhi Fujioka always leave after class with Kaoru, Ino slowly starts the habit in bitting his own nails and the flesh around them—hence why he said my fingers are bleeding again again meaning he's done this before but it wasn't a bad habit back then, this says it in Entry Eight.
Entry Nine, Ino speaks of how he passed out during class. The reason? He was malnourished since his abusive mother didn't feed him properly. However, this was also a positive note for him since his obsession carried him to the nurses office.
Their relationship blossoms a bit more after chapter ten, Kaoru starts feeling a slight pull torwards Ino—and the abused child's feelings doesn't change as he continues following Kaoru around, and staring at the rich boy. After a few days, which leads to Entry Twelve, Kaoru goes up to Ino for just a small greeting, but sees the terrible makeup job to cover up Ino's black eye.
After that they start to become friends, their friendship further turns into something more as Kaoru notices Ino didn't come to school. Unaware of the harsh beating the poor boy received at home from his mother.
But the auburn haired boy noticed something as he gifts Ino, then gives an excuse to measure Ino to see if the boy was getting fed properly. But only to see that the blonde wasn't. Though Hikaru Hitachiin starts seeing the obvious signs of Kaoru's worrisome thoughts that involved Ino.
Telling his youngest brother that if he won't stop seeing Ino, Hikaru won't ever forgive him.
Kaoru does that, starts ignoring Ino but soon regrets it and retreats back to Ino in hopes to reconnect. Skipping further to Entry Twenty six, Kaoru finds out that Ino is getting abused at home. Pissed beyond all reason Kaoru distances himself in hopes to calm himself down.
In return an old man moves in with Ino and his mother—which the man can't keep his filthy hands off the abused boy. Yet Ino says nothing in fear of getting hurt even more. Entry Twenty Nine is where Kaoru talks to Ino once more, after figuring out he can't be away from Ino much longer.
Their relationship sorta of gets official during entry thirty, and after their first kiss, and after that Ino witnesses the police take away the rotten man that has been sexually abusing Ino. Which leads to Ino working up the courage to finally have intercourse with Kaoru in Entry Thirty Three.
Before page thirty seven where Kaoru suggests to run away, Ino is slowly starting to become insane, dragging Kaoru along with him as their love turns into some kind of obsession to make each other happy.
Even Kaoru was going to go as far as run away with Ino, which he did—however before that Entry Thirty Nine shows Hikaru shouting at Ino for making Kaoru became distant and compulsively obsessed with the blond.
However Ino could no longer take the physical and mental abuse any longer as he takes a private plane ride with Kaoru to America to start a new life hidden away from their friends and family.
Yet as soon as the two think everything is starting to lighten up, Hikaru keeps calling Kaoru everyday, cursing Ino—and begging his brother to come back from wherever Kaoru is.
Further into the diary entries Kaoru breaks down in the middle of the phone call, wanting to be back with his brother yet his insane love for Ino couldn't be put out.
Ino soon takes notice of this, decides that he can't bare to see his love like this any longer. So, Entry Forty Six, the two proclaim their love for each other before Kaoru dies (unknowingly) from consuming too much pills from the unknown bottle on the night stand.
Ino denied putting that in his entry, convincing himself that Kaoru was asleep and not actually dead. So packing up a bag, Kaoru's phone rings, the blond tells Hikaru their location. Hangs up. And leaves the shared apartment suit he had with Kaoru.
Entry Forty Nine, Ino writers on how he felt lonely—he didn't inform his diary about being on the streets for about two weeks. The guilt, and pain eating at him for killing and leaving his lover all alone.
The last Entry:
Entry Fifty,
After going a few more days alone, Ino decides to end his life by shooting himself up with drugs and rotting away in an abandoned alley. Right after he had written down his last entry in his journal.
