Acnologia's pov

I was woken up to the sound of footsteps like I was everyday for the past two weeks. I still hadn't managed to slip away from Miyako which was a pain. She always seemed to know what I was doing, no matter where she was.

The switching between personality's continued and whenevver she switched to the niice version, that dark pressense I had sensed when I first arrived would vanish but reappear when they switched again.

I lifted my head and looked around. She wasn't in the shrine. I started to pull on the chains, tugging as hard as I could until I eventually broke them, freeing my wrists. I turned to see if she had returned and she hadn't so I ran out of the shrine.

I looked around and quickly hid behind the statue. There was two humans standing on the stairs and they were fighting Miyako. There would be no way I could get past them without Miyako noticing with those senses of hers. They were probably just as sharp as a dragon slayers.

I looked around the statue to see what was happening, waiting for the fight to end so I could escape. I wasn't going to risk going ffull dragon near Miyako, she'd notice and my injury was still healing but I also remembered that she mentioned being able to turn into a massive fox which could fight me in my dragon form.

Miyako was easily beating these two men, shadows surrounding her hands as the men tried to fight her with large swords. Suddenly her ears pricked and she turned her head towards where I was. 'Crap. She noticed me' I cursed in my head.

Unfortunately for her, turning her attention towards me instead of focusing on who she was fighting cost her the fight.

One of the men stabbed the massive sword through her stomach as she turned her head back, coughing up blood. The guy removed his sword then the other one who had gone behind her, kicked her as she tumbled down the massive stone steps, laying limp at the bottom.

The two men smirked at each other and walked up the stairs, talking about stealing stuff. I came out from behind the statue and killed them both using my dragon slayer magic before walking down the steps.

I stepped over her body and when I stepped down, I felt something sticky under my feet. I looked down to see a pool of blood on stone path. I looked at Miyako.

Blood was oosing out of a deep wound in her stomach and her breathing was nothing more then shallow quick gasps, barely noticeable one's at that.

I turned my back and started to walk across the path and onto the sand of the beach when I stopped. A longing feeling was filling my chest. I turned back to look at her again.

I thought it over and decided to help. She did take care of me when I was held captive so I might as well return the favour.

I walked over and felt my heart stop. I couldn't hear her breathing. I leaned down and held a hand over her mouth. Nothing. "Is she-?" I asked. I listened for a heartbeat and heard a very faint drum off her heart but it was dying off. She was dying.

It felt like my heart was stabbed as a pain seered through it but not from a wound. I hoisted her up bridle style and carried her back up the stairs, the sticky liquid of her blood dripping onto my hands.

I gott back to the shrine and placed her on the makeshift bed she slept on if you could even call it that. I grabbed a bit of nearby cloth which had a couple old bloodstains on it.

I pressed it down on the wound as blood quickly stained the cloth. She was losing a lot of blood from the wound and if it continued then she would definitely die.

I kept applying presure to the wound, having to get a new cloth every minute or so because the one I was using kept getting soaked in blood and couldn't absorb anymore of the blood.

I rolled her onto here back instead of keeping her on her side which helped slightly as blood wasn't pouring out as much. I looked around and found some old bandages and took them.

I used a needle I found and stitched up the wound before wrapping it in bandages before proceeding to look for any other injuries. When I felt her ribcage I noticed that some of her ribs were missing. I felt around where I felt the gaps again and finally found where they'd gone.

All of them had bent in but one had bent into the lungs, piercing them. I quickly grabbed a knife and carefully cut where her ribcage was.

It was risky to be doing this since I hadn't had to really on my small amount of first aid knowledge since I was a soldier and that was before I became a dragon slayer. I tried not to cringe and carefully pried the broken rip away from the lung. I removed all the ribs that were broken which was about 5 then stitched up the wound.

I bandaged up this wound then stood up. I didn't need to stay anymore. She wouldn't die right away so I could leave. I turned around again and started to walk towards the entrance before that pang in my heart returned. I growled.

"Oh my god. Just let me leave" I yelled at no one. I started to walk again and the feeling got stronger. A feeling of longing. I took in a deep breath then growled.

I spun around and walked back towards her and sat down. 'I'll stay till she's healed enough to take care of herself I sighed, grabbing one of the ribs I had removed and fiddling with it. Her scent kept travelling to my nose and it seemed to make my heart flutter. Her scent was a mix of darkness and plant life such as fruit, flowers, trees and so on. The plant scent was quite refreshing unfortunately her scent was mixed in with the scent of her own blood.

'What do I do? She's annoying and I hate her but she's supposed to be my mate?' I thought, eventually falling asleep.
