Narrator's POV:
Marinette looks at him in surprise! She smiles just the same. She looks at him in question.
Adrien (Mr. Smith) POV:
I see the funny look Marinette gives me. I can see that my words about my identity have surprised her. I can tell because her jaw drops and she appears to be speechless. I laugh. I can not help it because she is just so cute.
"Marinette, it is okay. I am still me. I go by another name because I chose to do that when I first came here. It is not anything to worry about my dear." I say this to try to reassure her
"I -I do not understand. You want me to find the boy behind the mask. I do, but it appears to be an m-mistake. I find he no longer exists. I came all this way f-for n-nothing." Marinette says.
"What? Please do not say that Marinette. I still care for you!" Adrien says
"How can I believe that when you are not yourself anymore? I fell in love with Chat. I fell in love with Adrien. I did not fall for some Mr. Smith." Marinette says. She walks away.
"Marinette, wait!" Adrien calls out after her. This time he has no intention to repeat his past. He chases after her. He does not stop until they are face to face inside the condo's hallway.
"What do you want Adrien? I mean Mr. Smith, or whoever you are nowadays." Marinette says sadly.
Marinette's POV:
I can not believe it. After all this time, I thought for once that Chat and Adrien who are the same person would be happy to see me. I was right. Only, now he does not go by Adrien anymore? This brings me to ask who is it I love? I thought I knew, but now? I mean, he goes by Mr. Smith?
I do not know him by that name. I only ever knew him as Chat and Adrien. How could he expect me to accept him as anyone else? I love my Chat aka Adrien. What do I do? If he can not be Adrien anymore does this mean our past was a lie?
Adrien's POV:
"Marinette, I love you. You have to believe me! I broke down when I got your note. I thought you did not want me. I mean, you were with Nathaniel. How was I to know otherwise?" Adrien tells her.
"Marinette, the scars where did you get those?" Adrien ask
"Nathaniel was jealous. He hit me and it never did heal right. He is in jail! I told you all this in the letter. Did you ever doubt my words? How can you say you love me? " Marinette ask
"I just thought this was impossible. Yet you have scars as you say. Oh, princess! I am sorry, he did this to you!" Adrien says as the tears form in his eyes.
Narrator's POV:
"Do not cry, It is okay. I will be alright!" Marinette says as she hugs him
Adrien hugs her back.
"Marinette is all my fault!" Adrien says
"Do not blame yourself. I never should have been with him anyway." Marinette says
"I left you though," Adrien mutters
"I forgive you!" Marinette says
Adrien reaches up and pulls her closer. He can see that their lips almost touch. "Marinette, will you be my girlfriend?"
"I do not know. Am I the girlfriend of this alter ego, Mr. Smith? Who am I to date?" Marinette ask
"It is me, Adrien," Adrien says
"In that case, yes, Adrien, I will!" Marinette says
Adrien kisses her. Marinette kisses him back.
"Adrien, I am sorry I took so long to find you," Marinette says
"Marinette, that does not matter anymore. What matters is that we are together now!" Adrien says.
