Even half-drowned in a dream, she felt an abstract of light and shadow creep into her bedroom, a ray warming her ear.

"Je suis fatigué," she grasped the cream-colored sheets close to her chin. She wished she'd drawn the curtains before going to bed last night.

Squeezing her thighs shut, pelvis rising, her body twisted in yearning. Abruptly, he tore the duvet away from her and pressed on her petiteness. He nibbled at her ear, his stubble tickling her neck. Her mind was telling him to stop, but her body was longing to feel pleasure again. Her legs opened as it glided outwards on the soft sheets, finally surrendering to him. His torso thrusted into her frame, his entirety into her flesh.

C'est bon...

She knew she was still trapped in a dream state and that was why she begged her body to stay asleep, not caring who was giving her pleasure. She needed to feel this again. In a split second, her body erupted.

Unapologetic and breathless, Veronica Ramos waited until her mind drifted back to consciousness. The sun's bright light had already found its way further into her bedroom. When she finally opened her sleepy blue-green eyes, she stretched with a satisfied purr. She reached over to check the time on her phone, her long hair spread on her pillow like squid ink on clear water. She'd woken up half an hour before her alarm.

Paris.

Many souvenirs of the past clouded her mind after seeing it in her flight roster this month. It felt weird she didn't need to kill to get this flight. In fact, she'd been avoiding European flights for a while now.

But today, a different kind of excitement filled her. She got up and performed a few yoga stretches on the area rug to clear her head. Thanks to her physiotherapist, her back was finally getting better and stronger. Her heart and her mind—not so much. That's why she had to focus on making this flight a good one, at least.

This layover will be different. No more stress. And, no more drama.

Suddenly, her phone buzzed. Getting up from her cat-cow pose, she reached for her phone on the bedside table. She squinted as she read the numbers on the screen. It was an international call.

Drew Pierce, one of her best friends in the sand lands, had to press the pause button when it rang. He was watching the new season of the hit TV series, Guild which starred his constant obsession, actor Dylan West.

"Ignore it," she recalled him saying. He'd cautioned her of the myths. Answering calls with unfamiliar codes could skyrocket phone bills. She immediately clicked the screen shut, not wanting to take any risks.

As soon as she stood up to get ready for her flight, her alarm went off.
