Quickly coming out of the TV and radio office building, they ran straight to the white chauffeured vehicle parked just right in front of the entrance.

When TJ grabbed her hand, her heart fluttered. This was one effect of a long distance relationship: every little physical contact counted. But getting inside an enclosed space made her nervous once again. She had yet to face the dreaded talk with him.

Once inside, the car snailed its way out of the traffic flow. He'd decided to drop her off at his hotel before heading to meet Wolff and the orchestra to wrap things up. She loved how he took charge of everything, even reminding her to bring an overnight bag.

Her mind trailed back to what just occurred at the studio. She had to say something already. The torture was killing her.

"Teej, we have to talk. About what just happened."

"You're right. I have to apologize for not telling you," he turned, his soft green eyes gazing at her. He reached for her hand and placed it on his lap.

"About JJ Smith being your grandfather?" Her eyebrows raised.

God, she'd already forgotten about that! Her conscience was slowly eating her alive and here he was saying sorry to her!

"Yeah," he took a glimpse out of the window, a breath of relief escaped his chest.

"Why didn't you tell me?" she asked softly, her own confession still lodged in her chest.

She stared at their intertwined fingers. When she tried to look at him, his eyes gazed somewhere else.

"Would it have made a difference if I told you early on?" he looked down, dusting an imaginary speck of dust on the fabric of his pants, their hands still clasped together.

"Not really. Did you think I already knew?" she asked, squeezing his hand to get his attention.

"I knew you didn't. But then, I also realized you'd find out sooner or later. I wanted to tell you, but a  part of me wished you never knew because that's one of the many things I first liked about you," he said finally looking into her eyes.

Pain hit her hard.

"What do you mean? So you wouldn't be interested in me if I knew the truth about who you really are?"

"It's not like that at all."

"Then, what do you mean?"

"I just didn't want it to be a big deal. My grandfather is such a big deal to everyone already. When I met you, I felt like I was starting with a clean slate."

She could still feel the heaviness on as her chest as he continued to speak.

"Us getting to know each other felt so natural. I wanted to keep it that way, no articles or documentaries of my family overriding it. Unlike how the interview went this morning."
