The loud sound of the alarm clock bounced off the walls, the clear wooden floor and then into the ears of Cole, startling him senseless. It took all that he had not to smash it into the wall. He decided to forgo his movie and took a moment to stare at it.
"What the purpose of this alarm anyways?"
"Turn it off will you?!!" A voice exclaimed from the other side of the door.
"Why not you come in here and turn it off yourself?" Cole muttered turning off the alarm. He stretched and went on with his morning routine; arranging his side of the bed, taking a shower, brushing his teeth, dressing up for school. He quickly put all his school things in order and strapped his bag over his shoulder, only then did his eyes catch the time.
"It's 5:30am?!" Cole dropped his bag, slacked his tie and went over to his reading table. "Who should I disturb?" He placed his feet on the table and settled his bag by his feet. "Ace."
A loud groan was the first thing Cole heard from the other line. "Go away!!"
"Never." Cole laughed. "No one told you to trade your robot with me when we were kids."
"I'm regretting that decision now." Ace growled. "Who would've thought you'd be my best friend."
"You flatter yourself."
"Oh shut it. I can't go back to sleep now!"
"How about we play a quick game?" Cole asked. There was a moment of silence before Ace sighed.
"Fine."
Cole hung up the phone and turned on his laptop, ready for a game of 'hostage hero', a famous game they love to play. "Are we on the same team?" Cole asked into his headphones.
"No, different teams, I need to kill you." Ace replied.
Cole let out a fake gasp as he chose his character. "The lies you say. Let's get started."
"Sure." Ace said. Twenty minutes into the game and Ace groaned out loud. "Why did you shoot me, Ross? We're on the same team!!"
Ross' laughter rang in Ace's ears. "I'm Cole spy."
"You traitor!" Ace shouted. "I'm done." Ace pushed his laptop off his lap and leaned on his bed in anger.
"Yeah, cause you're dead." Cole laughed loudly but his laughter got cut off when someone put him in a choke hold.
Cole managed to break free but was a coughing fit. "Are you that pained, Ace?"
Ace glared at Cole. "Your gaming days are numbered."
"Lies!!" Cole exclaimed standing to his feet. The two glared at each other in a heated stare down.
"Wait." Ross interrupted. "You're with Cole?"
"Yes Ross." Ace whispered into his gaming headphones. "He stayed over for an art project, you just killed our vibe!" Ace glared at Cole once more until Ross said.
"Sure whatever. Are you at Cole's house or is he at yours?"
"He's at mine, seriously dude!"
"Sorry, sorry." Ross laughed.
"You're clearly not." Ace said, he sat on his bed where his laptop stayed. His eyes went through the room. "You did a magnificent job of cleaning his side of the room."
"There's not much to clean." Cole replied with a nonchalant shrug, that made Ace throw a pillow at him.
Ace scanned the room, although it was spacious there wasn't much in it. Just his bed facing a wooden wall, over it was a few of his paintings. Then a dark green sofa and his reading table. What occupied the room was his mini studio he set up at the side of the room. He had to use it until his Dad officially clean out the attic.
