10 or so years ago. LawsPOV

I was sat on the scrap yard beach alone studying medical books as a way of escape.
I looked onto the horizon seeing a shimmer of sorts then a voice.
"A cute human!"

"Who the hell are you?"
"Princess (y/n). Of mermaids of course."
"Well. Fuck off."
"Hey! Can i read a book?"

"Your mean!"
"And you cant walk on land. Mermaid-ya."
"I can!"

She forced me to turn around and all i could hear was her struggling to do something.

"You look like a baby!"
"Laawww~"
"I know that voice! I thought he went mute... Oh no. I've discovered a secret!"

She looked at the man and he looked at me.
"Still no smile you prune.

" What... The fuck. "
" Well hello to you to (y/n). You've met law? "
" That ass with the retarded hat. Who swore. No idea. "

Corazon hit my head and the i rolled around in pain.
" Be nice to her!"
" Hows the marines. "
"Marines?"
"Law. You should leave."
"No."
"Corazon. You're so fake, Barbie is jealous."
"And two faced."
"If your gonna be two faced, honey at least make one of them pretty."
"Why are you two fighting like old friends."
"ive known corazon for about 6 years. Technically im his property."
"Wh- oh i do forget."
"Are you still as clumsy as ever?"
"Yes he is. Constantly. He's a danger to himself and me."
"I should leave before everyone gets discovered. And corazon... Don't die. Ill be back tomorrow."

I stood their thinking about that girl and i wanted to know what they meant by marines and property. But it was obviously code between them and k doubt they would tell me.
But to see i went to the dock the next day and saw her again. This time she had proper clothes.

"Flowers?"
"For Corazon. They are his favourite."
"He left this morning on business."
"Damn. Keep. Them anyway. His brother hates these with a passion. Put them next to your door and he wont enter."
"Seriously?"
"Ye. Its why i always wear one when im around here. For some reason he can smell it and absolutely hates it. He had then all burned in this region."
"Thanks. Can i ask... About yesterday?"
"Corazon brought me at an auction his brother hosted. The other part is classified."
"Why did he buy you?"
"Lets say he was funded by people to do it."
"Marine is it a code?"
"Shut up! Or you'll get him killed. Your a bloody idiot. Kids like you shouldn't talk."
"So what! What will you do?!"
"Wait... Your skin. I've only just noticed. Is that the white lead poisoning."

I wasn't answering her questions if she wouldn't answer mine.

"Im Dying too. Although i have longer than anyone else to ever get my illnesses."
"Really?"
"Yes. I have a long time till it hits the last stages."
"Is it contagious?"
"No its self Inflicted and only mermaids can get it."
"How did you get it?"
"A man. I'm hunting him down. Do you know this man?"

"Crocodile. He ages slowly. How old is it?"
"Its about 1year."
"Why do you want him."
"To kill him. If you know him he visits."
"Last time he came he said it was his last. I have no idea where he is now. Sorry."
"Its fine. I have a few years."
"Lets make a promise then!"
"Depends."
"We promise not to die. We both have to live till our late 30's and meet!"
"Sounds like a deal. And I'm going to leave. I need to find this man but promise to take care of corazon. He's an old useless fool. I've saved him to many times to count. Please be careful both of you. Alright?"
"Sure. Take care. See you in 20 years."

Present day.

"So you knew each other for two days. Doesn't mean you had to help."
"Exactly! Shes an Enemy."
"After Corazon died for me... she's the reason i got off the island alive. And we made a promise. And we intend to keep it. That's why she called."
"You seem hurt."
"I hoped one day she'd take my heart. Instead she's giving hers to another man. You snooze... You lose.
